The National Rugby League is back and we’re marking its return with a weekend treble of more than 4/1 from the fourth round of fixtures.
Rugby league Down Under has returned as a shortened 20-round competition following the suspension of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
New Zealand Warriors were given the green light to travel to Australia to take part in the resumed 2020 season at a base in New South Wales.
Parramatta Eels -4.5 points vs Manly Sea Eagles @ 91/100
Parramatta Eels laid down a daunting marker for the rest of the National Rugby League when they ruthlessly dispatched Brisbane Broncos in a 34-6 away win. The Broncos had won two from two before the one-sided clash and will face another team who return to action with a convincing win. Manly eased past Canterbury Bulldogs in similar vein to their hosts as they recorded a 32-6 triumph last week, however, the Sea Eagles will have to contend with the league’s most potent attack and sternest defence on Saturday. Parramatta have won eight of the last 10 matches against Manly, including the previous five on home soil. Four of those five contests have seen the Eels win by 10 or more points, so we fancy the handicap of over 4.5 points to do the job.
North Queensland Cowboys -4.5 points vs Cronulla Sharks @ 1/1
Cronulla Sharks are still awaiting their first victory of the 2020 NRL season after throwing away a 16-10 half-time lead to the out-of-form Wests Tigers during last week’s 28-16 defeat. It does not come any easier for the Sharks as they visit North Queensland Cowboys, who have won their last two matches, and the omens stack against Cronulla. The Cowboys have won three of their last four home matches, while the visitors have won only once in their last eight NRL games on their travels. Paul Green’s side have the second-best attack in the division and have won this corresponding fixture in three of the last five years – all by six points or more.
Canberra Raiders to beat Newcastle Knights @ 33/100
Canberra Raiders are other team to maintain their 100 per cent status when they impressively saw off Melbourne Storm on their home patch. England half-back George Williams enjoyed another eye-catching performance since joining the Raiders from Wigan over the winter, while co-captain Josh Hodgson and Elliott Whitehead also starred during Canberra’s third straight victory. Newcastle remain unbeaten following last week’s 14-14 draw at Penrith Panthers and it will be a testing battle between the Raiders’ stern defence and the Knights’ attacking flair. However, Canberra have won four of the last five home games between the two sides and we fancy them to edge it once again.
