BC Lions have taken full advantage of a kind early schedule to make a big splash this season and are taken to continue that trend at Ottawa.
Taking a first road trip on a short week complicates matters, especially with the Redblacks coming off a bye, but momentum is a major factor here.
We like 4.1 for the visitors to prevail by 1-6 points for our initial Ottawa Redblacks vs BC Lions prediction.
Ottawa Redblacks Odds
Ottawa will have welcomed a week off after their revamped offence failed to fire in the opening couple of games.
However, the Redblacks deserve some leeway at this stage, as 19-17 and 19-12 defeats both came against two-time defending champions Winnipeg.
Former Hamilton QB Jeremiah Masoli and wide receiver Jaelon Acklin have rekindled their partnership and shown plenty of promise.
Indeed, one of those losses to the Blue Bombers may well have been a win if Acklin hadn’t put down what looked a perfect pass in Week 1.
Fellow wide-outs Nate Behar and Darvin Adams have also provided some encouraging signs and it is surely a matter of time before things click.
“We’re coming together fast,” said Acklin. “We’ve just gotta finish drives.
“We’re all seeing the talent that we have. We’re executing until we get into the score zone.”
This should be a better chance for the hosts to put some points on the board, while the Lions are already roaring on offence.
Looking at the Ottawa Redblacks vs BC Lions odds, we reckon 1.91 for over 47.5 total points is a good option.
BC Lions Odds
These two teams began the season as outsiders for Grey Cup glory but BC have seen their price slashed and are now second favourites to go all the way.
The Lions kicked off by thrashing Edmonton 59-15 and then returned from a bye week to blitz Toronto 44-3.
Both of those matches were in front of their own fans and they now have to travel across three time zones with a quick turnaround, so this is a whole new ball game.
However, it is impossible to ignore the precision passing of signal caller Nathan Rourke since taking over from CFL stalwart Michael Reilly.
Against the Argonauts, he threw for 436 yards, a single-game record for a Canadian quarterback.
Rourke completed 39 of his 45 passes, including four touchdowns, and split his targets superbly, with four receivers having seven or more receptions.
Overall this season, he’s passed for 748 yards, completed 87.8 per cent of his passes, with seven touchdowns and zero interceptions.
With that rhythm already established, the Lions will be looking to get off to another fast start at TD Place Stadium.
Let’s add 1.83 for them to be the first team to reach 10 points to our Ottawa Redblacks vs BC Lions betting tips.
