Edmonton Elks vs Ottawa Redblacks prediction & odds

Kick-off: 1700 MDT, 27/08/2022

Stadium: Commonwealth Stadium

TV: TSN/RDS

Edmonton have gone 12 games and almost three years without a home win but that drought is expected to end when Ottawa visit Commonwealth Stadium.

The Elks dominated the second half when beating the Redblacks 30-12 on the road last week and should confirm that superiority here.

We’re snapping up 1.87 for Chris Jones’ side to cover three points start on the spread for our first Edmonton Elks vs Ottawa Redblacks prediction.

Edmonton Elks Odds

Edmonton trailed 12-9 at the interval at TD Place but registered three unanswered touchdowns after play resumed to improve to 3-7.

Taylor Cornelius completed 16 of his 27 passes for 208 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, while the Elks’ defence did the rest.

“We made some adjustments at half-time, we manifested it,” running back Ante Milanovic-Litre told TSN.

“We knew what we were going to do when we got out there and we just executed what was called.”

Edmonton were still called the Eskimos when last tasting victory in front of their own fans but are now fancied to get that monkey off their back.

“They’ve come out and supported us the past two years, getting loud and being there,” commented Cornelius. “It’ll be a great feeling for the city and this team.”

We’re taking 2.25 for the hosts to be in control from the outset this week and lead at half-time and full-time from the Edmonton Elks vs Ottawa Redblacks odds.

Ottawa Redblacks Odds

Ottawa claimed their sole win of the season when prevailing 23-13 at Toronto at the end of last month but their offence has since faltered.

The Redblacks began August with a 17-3 home loss to Calgary and then returned from a bye week with the defeat by Edmonton.

Getting star returner DeVonte Dedmon back following a stint with the Miami Dolphins is a nice boost.

“Devonte has proven himself to be a top player in our league who is always a threat with the ball in his hands,” said head coach Paul LaPolice.

“It’s exciting for the team to be able to add a player of his calibre to the roster and we’re happy to have him back in the mix.”

Dedmon could well provide a much-needed spark on special teams again but Ottawa’s all-round play this year has left much to be desired.

We’re sticking with a home win by 7-12 points at 4.75 to finish off our Edmonton Elks vs Ottawa Redblacks betting tips.
