2022 NFL MVP odds, candidates & winner prediction

We’re tracking the 2022 NFL MVP odds to see which players are expected to challenge for this prestigious regular-season award.

Quarterbacks tend to dominate the voting, with 14 of the last 15 gongs going to that position and only running back Adrian Peterson bucking the trend in 2012.

Here are the leading candidates to come out on top this year and the latest prices:

JOSH ALLEN @ 8.0

The 26-year-old Buffalo quarterback has led the Bills to the playoffs for the past three years and many pundits believe that everything is in place for the franchise to push for Super Bowl success this term. Allen has thrown for almost 9,000 yards and had 73 touchdown passes over the past two regular seasons and has plenty of weapons at his disposal again.

PATRICK MAHOMES @ 9.0

The 2018 winner set all kinds of records for a young QB after beginning his NFL career in a blaze of glory at Kansas City, becoming the fastest player to reach 15,000 career passing yards and 100 touchdowns. Losing the lightning-quick Tyreek Hill from his wide receiver corps is a blow but the Chiefs will make Mahomes the focal point of their offence once more.

TOM BRADY @ 9.0

Brady picked up this award three times during his stellar stretch with New England and his stats certainly haven’t suffered since switching to Tampa Bay. Last term, he made more regular-season completions than ever before at 485, set a new best mark for passing yards with 5,316 and 43 TD throws was his second-highest tally, albeit with one more match played. The 45-year-old will be fired up to justify putting off his retirement for at least another year.

AARON RODGERS @ 10.0

Green Bay’s mercurial playmaker will aim to complete a hat-trick of victories and his fifth overall. The 38-year-old shrugged off suggestions that he might call it a day at the end of last term by negotiating a new $150million three-year contract that makes him the highest-paid player in North American sports history. The Packers have rebuilt their WR team, but Rodgers remains a welcome constant at Lambeau Field.

JUSTIN HERBERT @ 10.0

The 2020 offensive rookie of the year improved his production rate last term, becoming the first quarterback in Los Angeles Chargers history to throw for at least 5,000 yards in a single season. Herbert’s tally of 38 passing touchdowns was marred by 15 interceptions, but he has a more versatile offence at his disposal in 2022 and a revamped defence may lessen the need for chasing games with the ball in hand.

JOE BURROW @ 13.0

After being the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and then going 2-7-1 in his rookie campaign, Burrow inspired a Cincinnati resurgence last season. The 25-year-old posted 10 wins in regulation and three more in the playoffs to lead the Bengals to the Super Bowl. A traditionally tough division does make his task harder, though.

DAK PRESCOTT @ 13.0

Prescott has been talked up as a potential superstar ever since leading Dallas to a 13-3 record in his 2016 rookie campaign. Things didn’t quite click after that, while injury issues in 2020 and a contract dispute at the start of last season saw his stock fall. The Cowboys bounced back to form with 11 wins under Prescott, though, and a beefed-up offensive line gives him every chance of finally fulfilling that early promise, so some will see him as a value bet in the 2022 NFL MVP odds.
