Rising Stars Tournament – TEAM ISIAH @ 2.75

We’re backing the favourites to get us off to a winning start tonight when there is a lot to like about the Team Isiah roster. Tyrese Haliburton has been in fine form since being traded to the Indiana Pacers and he is set to link up with Anthony Edwards, who was the number one pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020 draft. That duo will make Team Isiah hard to beat.

Skills Challenge – TEAM CAVS @ 3.50

Three teams are competing in a new format which features four events on Saturday, starting with shooting, passing and a timed relay with the two best teams going through to the final round which involves making a half-court shot. Inexperience could work against Team Rookies while the three brothers on Team Antetokounmpo have played little basketball together since their younger days. We’re backing Team Cavs with home advantage and the chance to put some extra practice in together.

Three Point Contest – FRED VANVLEET @ 5.50

There is guaranteed to be a first-time winner of this event and VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors looks a solid pick for our NBA All Star Weekend predictions. He leads the league for clutch three-pointers this season with 17, with Kyle Kuzma the only other player to make more than 10, so he has proved he can hold his nerve when the pressure is on.

Slam Dunk Contest – JALEN GREEN @ 2.75

There is little to separate Green, Obi Toppin and Cole Anthony in the betting. A strong case can be made for all three, with Toppin looking to go one better than his runner-up spot last year, but the preference is for Green. He has had a difficult rookie season with the Houston Rockets but looks to have all the credentials needed to shine here.

NBA All Star Game – TEAM LEBRON -6.5 @ 1.91

LeBron James became a team captain when the format of the All Star Game was changed and he has a perfect 4-0 record which he will not want to give up without a fight. He undoubtedly has the strongest team on paper too with a roster which includes Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic. Team Durant will be without their injured captain so Team LeBron are fancied to cover the spread in our NBA All Star Game predictions.

All Star Game MVP – DEMAR DEROZAN @ 15.00

James is a tempting pick at 7.00 given he is returning to Cleveland but at more than twice the price, Team LeBron team-mate DeRozan offers plenty of value. He made NBA history on Wednesday night when he became the first player to score at least 35 points while shooting better than 50 per cent from the field in seven consecutive matches. A similar performance here would put him firmly in the reckoning for the Kobe Bryant Trophy.
