We’re taking a look at the Rory McIlroy odds for 2023, with the world number one quoted at 9/4 to end a Major drought stretching back to 2014.
After winning the US Open in 2011, McIlroy claimed US PGA Championship titles in 2012 and 2014, as well as prevailing in The Open that season.
However, golf’s big four trophies have since eluded the Northern Irishman and he will be determined to put that right, especially after rock-solid 2-8-5-3 placings in 2022.
The 33-year-old is 750/1 to become the first player in the modern era to achieve a Grand Slam of winning all four Majors in the same calendar year.

The Northern Irishman finished the 2022 season on top of the DP World rankings, previously known as the European Tour.
It was the fourth time he had achieved that feat and the first since 2015, while McIlroy also secured a third PGA Tour FedEx Cup triumph.
He said: “I was a model of consistency throughout the year and I think my worst finish in European Tour events was 12th at the start of the year in Abu Dhabi.”
After wrapping up the European crown by finishing fourth at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, McIlroy added: “I’m really proud of my year and I am looking forward to 2023.
“I just feel when you get to this level it is how you can make those incremental improvements to get better and my goal has been to become a more complete golfer.
“I am as complete a golfer as I’ve ever been and I hope to continue on that path.
“It has taken me seven years to get my hands back on this trophy again; it’s been eight years since I won a Major.
“If I can keep playing the way I’m playing and keep these consistent levels up, I will do that.”

McIlroy infamously blew a four-shot lead on the final day at Augusta in 2011, shooting a closing round of 80 to end up finishing tied for 15th. In 2022, a bogey-free 64 on day four saw him improve from ninth to second, but there was no catching Scottie Scheffler, who won by three. “To finish like this, it’s just absolutely incredible,” said McIlroy. “This tournament never ceases to amaze. He started the final round with a three-stroke lead and ultimately prevailed by eight shots, breaking the previous record margin of seven set by Jack Nicklaus in 1980. Two years later, Rory edged out Phil Mickelson by one shot at Valhalla in Louisville, Kentucky. The 2023 PGA Championship will be held at Oak Hill Country Club, where McIlroy finished in a tie for eighth in 2013.

Just two months after his Masters meltdown, McIlroy broke his Major duck at the 2011 US Open at Congressional in Bethesda, Maryland – dominating throughout and romping home by an eight-shot margin. However, four straight top-10 finishes and form figures of 9-8-7-5 suggest he is ready to challenge again. Los Angeles Country Club will host its first Major when staging the 2023 US Open.

McIlroy lifted the Claret Jug when he had two shots to spare over Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia in the 2014 Open at Royal Liverpool, having been ahead after each round of that tournament. The Northern Irishman obviously rates the sole British Major highly, as he has also been second, third twice, fourth and fifth. Returning to Royal Liverpool in 2023 will bring back fond memories for McIlroy and it is no surprise to see him listed as the early favourite to strike for the second time at a venue where Tiger Woods triumphed in 2006.
