We’ve reached the semi-finals stage with our bwin Grand Slam of Darts predictions and have a 99/1 correct score double for Sunday afternoon in Wolverhampton.
This event features the top stars from the PDC and BDO codes and has £450,000 in prize money up for grabs, with £110,000 going to the champion.
Mensur Suljovic to beat Gerwyn Price 16-13 @ 9/1
This is very much a clash of styles and we favour the cool, calm and collected approach of Suljovic to the fiery antics of Price.
The Austrian went about his business in typically uncomplicated fashion when ousting PDC world champion Rob Cross 10-7 and there were few dramas in a 16-9 triumph over Belgium’s Dimitri van den Burgh.
“I was worried I was going to go out in the group stage, so it’s amazing to reach the semi-finals,” the understated Suljovic told the official PDC website.
“I had to be at my best against Dimitri, he is a brilliant player, and as always I have to thank the crowd for supporting me – they were great.”
Price showed great spirit to edge out Simon Whitlock 16-15, coming from 7-3 behind at one stage, and past head-to-head form with Suljovic suggests another tight tussle is on the cards here.
The Welshman prevailed 6-5 when they met at the German Darts Open in April, but Suljovic shaded October’s World Grand Prix quarter-final 3-2 and gets the nod again in our Grand Slam of Darts betting tips.
Michael van Gerwen to beat Gary Anderson 16-12 @ 9/1
Mighty Mike avenged his group-stage loss to Jonny Clayton when prevailing by this scoreline in the quarter-finals and remains on course for a fourth straight title triumph in Wolverhampton.
That was a second successive win for Van Gerwen in high-quality matches, having previously prevailed 10-8 against Michael Smith.
Anderson has made much smoother progress, brushing aside Wesley Harms 10-2 and Michael Unterbuchner 16-6, but we just fear easing past two BDO opponents is not the right preparation for this mouth-watering match-up.
Van Gerwen is ready for a battle royale, stating: “For a lot of people, it’s going to be the game of the tournament.
“Me and Gary are the best two players in the world and we are going to have a great battle.
“The winner has got a massive chance to win this tournament. We both know that and we need to keep our heads focused.”
This pair have split their last six meetings, but Van Gerwen holds a 21-12 lead overall and is regarded as a percentage pick for our Grand Slam of Darts predictions.
