ATP World Tour Finals 2018: Djokovic vs Zverev predictions

Novak Djokovic has been outstanding in London this week, but we’re backing Alexander Zverez to give him a decent work-out in our ATP World Tour Finals 2018 predictions.

Zverev was beaten 6-4 6-1 by the world number one during the group stage, but he did have a slight chance to upset the Serbian superstar at 4-4 in the opening set.

Having served extremely well in three other victories at the O2 Arena, we like 8/5 for the German to win at least one set this time for our ATP World Tour Finals 2018 betting tips.

Zverev claimed more than 75 per cent of first serve points when getting the better of Marin Cilic, John Isner and Roger Federer.

The 21-year-old produced arguably the best performance of his fledgling career when dashing Federer’s hopes of a seventh end-of-season title in the semis.

A nip-and-tuck first set was taken by Zverev when he broke Federer to love at 6-5.

The youngster, yet to make it past the quarter-finals of a grand slam, then showed no signs of nerves in a pulsating second set before shading a tie-break.

If Zverev can maintain that composure in the decider, particularly on his own serve, then 29/20 for there to be a tie-break in the match appeals for our ATP World Tour Finals 2018 predictions.

Djokovic to shade thriller

Of course, Djokovic deserves to be favourite after a comprehensive 6-2 6-2 triumph over South Africa’s Kevin Anderson made it 35 wins in his last 37 matches.

That hot streak includes 14 straight victories against other players ranked in the top 10, although he did recently lose to Karen Khachanov in the Paris Masters final.

The only other defeat since the start of Wimbledon was against Stefanos Tsitsipas in Toronto and Zverev acknowledges he is up against it.

He said: “Novak right now is the best player in the world. It’s very tough to beat him.

“He’s barely lost a match in the last six months. He’s playing amazing tennis. You have to play your best game to even have a chance.”

We still believe Zverev can be competitive, but 7/2 for Djokovic to prevail 2-1 is probably the best value pick from the ATP World Tour Finals 2018 odds.
