Broner vs Garcia: Mikey expected to solve The Problem

There will be no belts on the line when Adrien Broner and Mikey Garcia do battle in Brooklyn this weekend but that won’t stop millions tuning in to watch two of America’s elite boxers.

Broner can boast world title wins at four weights, while Garcia is only one behind him in that department.

At 28 and 29 respectively, they should both be in peak condition, but we just feel the latter is heading in a more positive direction and appeals at 83/100 to prevail on points in our Broner vs Garcia betting tips.

Garcia certainly has the pedigree to shine in the fight game, as his father trained the excellent Fernando Vargas and older brother Roberto is a former world champion.

Building on a successful amateur career, the Californian was brought along steadily as a pro and only picked up the WBO featherweight belt in his 31st bout.

After moving up a division to register another title triumph, contractual issues led to Garcia stepping away from the sport for two and a half years.

Garcia looks to be going places

However, after returning to action last summer, in January he claimed the WBC lightweight crown with a brutal third-round demolition of the previously unbeaten Dejan Zlaticanin.

That success saw his stock rise right back up and beating Broner could be the gateway to serious fame and fortune.

Broner can boast wins over some foes familiar to British boxing fans, with Welsh battler Gavin Rees and Londoner Ashley Theophane among his victims, alongside Paul Malignaggi.

However, ‘The Problem’ has had his limitations exposed in losses to Marcos Maidana and Shawn Porter, each time being on the wrong end of a unanimous decision.

Broner was outworked by both of those busy fighters and also struggled to secure a narrow success against Adrian Granados in February, so the signs are that this one-time Floyd Mayweather prodigy has just plateaued.

Knowing this could be his last crack at the big time may have inspired the often wayward character to knuckle down in training, but we still believe Garcia has the power and desire to do the business.
