Scotland still have a slim chance of reaching the Women’s European Championship quarter-finals but it is hard to see them getting past Spain on all the evidence seen so far out in Holland.

Anna Signeul’s side have yet to pick up a point but could progress if they win by two goals in Deventer and Portugal also lose to England in Group D.

Punters can get 33/1 for the underdogs to do their bit, but we’d rather side with their opponents to prevail and both teams to score at 2/1 in our Scotland Women vs Spain Women betting tips.

A Look At Scotland’s Betting Odds

After being put to the sword in a 6-0 thrashing by England, Scotland did show plenty of spirit in a 2-1 loss to Portugal on Sunday.

Lana Clelland fluffed a great chance to open the scoring early on, substitute Erin Cuthbert finished coolly to pull her side level on 68 minutes and Caroline Weir almost snatched a late point when hitting the post.

“I thought we deserved much more from the game; we created a lot more chances,” commented Cuthbert. “On another day, we would’ve won the game.

“We played very well, we had a lot of possession, but we couldn’t put the ball in the net. We were unlucky.”

Opportunities will be harder to come by here, but we still believe the Scots can be competitive when getting forward.

Looking at the Scotland Women vs Spain Women odds, 15/4 for the favourites to prevail 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 seems fair value.

A Look At Spain’s Betting Odds

Spain also felt aggrieved after going down 2-0 to England when failing to find a cutting edge after enjoying an incredible 74 per cent of the possession.

Jorge Vilda’s side looked very comfortable on the ball until reaching the final third, when a lack of ambition just let them down.

The head coach insisted: “We played well and were just missing the final ball. If we play like that, moving forwards we can take on any team.”

Vilda will be hoping to capitalise on now facing Scotland’s rather cumbersome defence and 27/20 for Spain to win and over 3.5 goals in the game is another option.
