Canada and USA are both bang on course to qualify for this year’s World Cup finals in Qatar and a draw in Hamilton may satisfy both teams.

With three automatic places up for grabs in the CONCACAF group, Mexico are just behind but Panama crucially lost ground due to Thursday’s defeat at Costa Rica.

That result has made sharing the spoils here even more acceptable, so 2.85 for a stalemate is our initial Canada vs USA prediction.

Canada Odds

Canada maintained their unbeaten record and top spot in the table with a gritty 2-0 triumph away to Honduras.

An early own goal and Jonathan David’s 73rd-minute strike earned the Reds a first road win over Los Catrachos since 1985.

“We came in here to grind the result out and I thought that’s what the players did,” commented English head coach John Herdman.

“We knew we had the quality in transition and we knew if we could manage the front three, we’d be okay.”

With five wins and four draws on the board, Canada can now approach this contest from a position of strength.

Herdman added: “We’ll keep relying on that mettle, that comradery, that brotherhood – and we’ll fight.

“That’s what it will be in any game against the US. You’ve got to bring the battle, it’s a cup final at home.”

The Canucks came from behind to draw 1-1 with their arch-rivals in Nashville last September and 5.75 for a repeat of that scoreline catches the eye from the Canada vs USA odds.

United States Odds

USA are just a single point behind after registering a workmanlike 1-0 win over El Salvador on a bitterly cold night in Columbus.

Jesus Ferreira missed a couple of first-half opportunities but Fulham wing-back Antonee Robinson fired home from close range on 52 minutes.

Yunus Musah and Robinson were then denied by fine saves, Weston McKennie headed over when unmarked and Timothy Weah was a handful up front.

“It wasn’t the prettiest game,” admitted Robinson. “There were times when we played good football and times when we just had to kind of dig out chances that we didn’t put away.

“We had to stay strong, stay resilient to keep a clean sheet – and that’s massive for us going forward. They’re the games that we have to keep winning if we want to qualify.”

Gregg Berhalter sprang a surprise by preferring Ferreira to Ricardo Pepi up front alongside Weah and Chelsea playmaker Christian Pulisic, but either forward fits nicely into this line-up.

McKennie, Musah and Tyler Adams form a hard-working midfield and two athletic wing-backs always bring energy and enthusiasm.

The Stars and Stripes have only won one of their four away games, though, and were upset 1-0 in Panama, so they may proceed with caution at The Donut Box.

Only two of America’s 13 goals so far have come before the half-time break and 2.35 for 0-0 at the end of the first period here completes our Canada vs USA betting tips.
