All four teams can still qualify from Group C heading into the final round of matches at Women’s Euro 2022 but Sweden are very much in the driving seat compared to Portugal.

Sweden are well on course for the quarter-finals after following up their 1-1 draw with the Netherlands with a 2-1 victory over Switzerland on Wednesday.
After a cagey opening half, Fridolina Rolfo put Sweden ahead eight minutes into the second half but Switzerland pulled one back two minutes later through Ramona Bachmann.
Substitute Hanna Bennison’s incredible strike then gave Sweden a precious victory, smashing the ball home from outside the box.
Sweden nearly added a third in the 87th minute when Rebecka Blomqvist found the bottom corner but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Manager Peter Gerhardsson still wants more from his team, though, saying: “Of course we have to improve and usually a team gets better throughout a tournament.
“I think the performance, when you look at the Netherlands it was better in comparison, but there are some steps to improve if you’re playing in a quarter-final and improve performance levels.
“I don’t have to say more about that, this game is finished, we need to win against Portugal as well so we cannot look at quarter-finals yet.”

A repeat looked on the cards when they again came from 2-0 down to equalise against the Netherlands but Danielle van de Donk’s 62nd-minute thunderbolt from 20 yards condemned them to a 3-2 defeat.
Portugal clearly have the firepower to cause problems but their defensive issues means an open game could be in store.
