Celtic suffered an early setback in their quest for a 10th straight Scottish Premiership title on Sunday and will be keen to tighten up when visiting St Mirren.
The Hoops have won the last five head-to-head encounters between these teams, with Saints scoring in only one of those fixtures.
We’re snapping up Evens for the champions to prevail without conceding here for our first St Mirren vs Celtic prediction.
A Look At St Mirren’s Betting Odds
St Mirren kicked off the new campaign with a 1-0 victory over Livingston, thanks to Richard Tait’s strike on 30 minutes.
However, Saints had their limitations exposed when beaten 3-0 at Rangers on Sunday, struggling to get out of their own half at times.
Manager Jim Goodwin admitted: “Facing the Old Firm is really difficult. They are long afternoons.
“You know you won’t have a great deal of possession and you know that when you get those one or two chances you have to be clinical.
“We did not do any of that unfortunately. The goals we conceded are poor, albeit Rangers thoroughly deserved their victory.”
Looking at the St Mirren vs Celtic odds, we like 7/1 for Saints to go down 3-0 again here.
A Look At Celtic’s Betting Odds
Celtic failed to reproduce the sparkle of a 5-1 opening rout of Hamilton when held to a 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock.
It looked good for the Hoops when midfielder Ryan Christie netted with a free-kick from distance after 10 minutes.
However, veteran winger Chris Burke levelled in the 24th minute from a penalty and a disciplined, well-organised Killie side held out for a deserved share of the spoils.
Neil Lennon commented: “I don’t think it was a poor performance, just a bit lacking that sharpness we normally have.
“It is hard at times without the supporters. If we look at the second half, there were moments where the fans would have drove the team on, but we have to adapt.
“We dropped a couple of points, which is disappointing, but we have a long way to go and the team will get better as we go.
“We’re looking forward to the game on Wednesday and we’re looking for a good performance.”
The Hoops did not drop points in consecutive Premiership matches throughout last season and invariably respond well to any blips.
We expect Saints to feel the backlash from Sunday’s stalemate and 4/5 for the visitors to score in both halves is added to our St Mirren vs Celtic betting tips.
