Spain vs Poland: Keep faith with La Roja in Seville

Kick-off: 2000, 19/06/2021

Stadium: Estadio de La Cartuja

TV: BBC One

Spain let favourite backers down when drawing with Sweden but did enough in general play to make them worth sticking with versus Poland.

The Eagles have it all to do in Euro 2020 Group E after suffering a surprise loss to Slovakia and look there for the taking in Seville.

We’re going for La Roja to find their shooting boots and win by more than one clear goal at Evens for our first Spain vs Poland prediction.

A Look At Spain’s Betting Odds

Spain had 85 per cent possession, 17 attempts on goal and some outstanding chances to break the deadlock during a 0-0 stalemate with Sweden at this venue.

Alvaro Morata was the main culprit for missing opportunities, but there were others, while Robin Olsen did make some fine saves.

At the other end, Alexander Isak and Marcus Berg could have even snatched victory for the Swedes but that would have been a real travesty.

Head coach Luis Enrique defended former Chelsea forward Morata, stating: “I think Alvaro had a great game. Of course, we all want to take our chances but other players had chances too.

“That’s football though. It would have been nice to dedicate a win to the fans because they were fantastic for most of the game.

“We are going to analyse this game in detail, as we always do, but in this case I think it’s really clear, we’ve all seen what happened, so there’s really not too much to go into.

“We were by far the better team. The opposition tried to hang back, we completely controlled the game and tried to create as many chances as possible.

“We had sufficient chances to win the game. What went wrong? It’s the fact we didn’t take those chances.”

Gerard Moreno looked lively when coming off the bench, so we’re hoping the Villarreal striker will be handed a start this time.

Looking at the Spain vs Poland odds, his record of five goals in 12 international appearances makes 10/3 for him to open the scoring stand out.

A Look At Poland’s Betting Odds

Poland have developed a nasty habit of disappointing at major tournaments and now face another uphill battle to advance after going down 2-1 to Slovakia.

Karol Linetty finished off a neat move to cancel out Slovakia’s 18th-minute opener, which went down as a Wojciech Szczesny own goal after Robert Mak’s shot hit the post and bounced in off the luckless keeper.

However, the 62nd-minute dismissal of Grzegorz Krychowiak put the Eagles back under pressure and Milan Skriniar’s clinical finish settled the issue.

Former Swansea and Leicester manager Paulo Sousa said: “We are all disappointed for the way we lost the game.

“In the first half, our defensive line was far away from our middle. To stop counter-attacks, we need to close this distance.

“The idea was to control the ball and create chances and we did do that but we could do better.

“We need to be better and show more courage because we cannot lose a game in this way.”

Star striker Robert Lewandowski put in a lacklustre display and it is hard to see Poland recovering from that setback.

Let’s add 23/4 for La Roja to oblige 2-0 to our Spain vs Poland betting tips.
