Spain vs Norway: La Roja to record clinical victory

Kick-off: 1945, 23/03/2019

Stadium: Mestalla

TV: Sky Sports

Spain look a class apart in Euro 2020 qualifying Group F and can kick off with a smooth success against Norway at the Mestalla in Valencia.

The Scandinavian side have not reached a major tournament since 2000 and still appear short of star quality heading into this campaign.

La Roja should dominate possession and 3/4 for a home win to nil is an easy pick for our first Spain vs Norway prediction.

A Look At Spain’s Betting Odds

Spain faltered at last summer’s World Cup following the untimely departure of Julen Lopetegui but had breezed through qualifying for Russia 2018.

La Roja registered nine wins and a draw away to Italy during that campaign, scoring 36 times and conceding only three goals.

Luis Enrique was handed the job of getting the 2008 and 2012 European champions back to their best and he got off to a flying start in the Nations League.

However, after opening with a 2-1 win in England and a 6-0 demolition of Croatia, two subsequent defeats saw them slip to second place.

Enrique will now seek a more clinical approach to powering through this pool and he does have a strong rearguard to call on.

David de Gea and Kepa Arrizabalaga can fight it out for the number one jersey, while Sergio Ramos and Jordi Alba will help to bring along some exciting young defenders.

There is a feeling, though, that Spain are not quite as formidable in midfield or up front, with Alvaro Morata the only proven goalscorer at international level.

Looking at the 12/5 for a home win and under 2.5 goals in the game.

A Look At Norway’s Betting Odds

Norway did not travel well en route to finishing fourth in their World Cup qualifying group, being thrashed 6-0 in Germany and also losing away to Northern Ireland, Czech Republic and Azerbaijan.

The Lions did take advantage of a lowly ranking to win a C division of the Nations League, though, finishing two points above Bulgaria and well clear of Cyprus and Slovenia.

Bournemouth’s Josh King and Tarik Elyounoussi of Stockholm outfit AIK are decent options in attack, although probably just short of this level.

West Brom’s Stefan Johansen and Mohamed Elyounoussi of Southampton are solid, but unspectacular midfielders, while Fulham’s Havard Nordtveit is the most experienced defender.

Overall, this is a workmanlike set-up which may compete for second place with Sweden, but Spain should prove a cut above.

Let’s finish off our Spain vs Norway betting tips by taking 21/4 for a 2-0 home win.
