Sheff Utd vs Burnley: Blades can shade Clarets

Kick-off: 1600, 23/05/2021

Stadium: Bramall Lane

TV: BT Sport

Sheffield United have badly missed their home fans this season and can show what might have been by celebrating their return with a win over Burnley.

Both teams have nothing to play for except pride, so the backing of even a reduced crowd at Bramall Lane could prove significant.

We’re siding with the Blades to prevail at 15/8 for our first Sheff Utd vs Burnley prediction.

A Look At Sheffield United’s Betting Odds

Despite being relegated some time ago, Sheffield United have refused to throw in the towel and been involved in a number of tight tussles.

The Blades were grateful for some fine saves from Aaron Ramsdale when only going down 1-0 at Newcastle but David McGoldrick did go close twice at the other end.

Caretaker boss Paul Heckingbottom commented: “We started really, really well, stopped Newcastle playing forwards, won the ball back in good areas and then broke from those areas and created chances, which we didn’t take.

“Then we got punished with the last kick before half-time and that’s been the story of the season hasn’t it? It’s been no lack of effort, the players have been there.”

A couple of close contests have gone United’s way recently, though, with Brighton and Everton both edged out 1-0.

Looking at the 9/1 for the Blades to oblige by that scoreline again here.

Last Sheff Utd line-up: Ramsdale, Stevens, Basham, Egan, Robinson, Bogle, Fleck, Norwood, Osborn, Jebbison, McGoldrick.

A Look At Burnley’s Betting Odds

Burnley can be forgiven for easing off a bit since a 2-0 triumph at Fulham earlier this month guaranteed their safety.

Since then, the Clarets have been beaten 4-0 by Leeds and 3-0 by Liverpool on home turf.

Manager Sean Dyche felt his side were hard done to by the final result against the Reds.

He said: “We matched them pretty well overall, we have created chances, we have had more of the ball than we have had ever against Liverpool.

“But there is a gap; they had three shots on target and scored three.”

However, Dyche also confirmed forward Ashley Barnes – an unused substitute – had been arrested for drink-driving after the win over Fulham.

With the Clarets possibly already planning for their summer holidays, we’re adding 23/4 for Draw HT/Sheff Utd FT to our Sheff Utd vs Burnley betting tips.

Last Burnley line-up: Norris, Lowton, Taylor, Tarkowski, Mee, Cork, Gudmundsson, Brownhill, McNeil, Westwood, Wood.
