PSV vs Sevilla prediction: Eindhoven draw appeals

Kick-off: 1745, 23/02/2023

Stadium: Philips Stadion

TV: BT Sport

Sevilla have secured a record six Europa League triumphs and made a statement of intent when crushing PSV 3-0 in Spain.

The Dutch outfit will look to salvage some pride from the second leg in Eindhoven, but beating Los Rojiblancos in their current mood will be tough.

We reckon 14/5 for a draw at Philips Stadion is the way to go with our initial PSV vs Sevilla prediction.

PSV Eindhoven Odds

Only one team has ever recovered from a three-goal first-leg deficit in this competition, when Valencia bounced back from a 3-0 defeat in Basel to prevail 5-3 on aggregate.

PSV are unlikely to pull off a similar great escape against such well-drilled opponents, but they do have a proud home record to protect.

Nine of this season’s 13 Eredivisie victories have come in front of their own fans, with 34 goals scored at this venue in that competition and only seven conceded.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side emerged from their Europa League group with plenty of credit when collecting 13 points and pushing table toppers Arsenal all the way.

Their sole defeat was a 1-0 reversal at Emirates Stadium, which they avenged by beating the Gunners 2-0 in Eindhoven.

Last month’s decision to sell Cody Gakpo to Liverpool and Noni Madueke to Chelsea just took away some momentum, though.

The hosts will have to adopt a positive approach, so 18/5 for a score draw is probably worth the extra risk from the PSV vs Sevilla odds.

Sevilla Odds

Spanish sides have a great record in the Europa League, winning 11 of the last 16 renewals, and Sevilla have played a huge part in that success.

Finishing third behind Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund in a Champions League pool may prove a blessing in disguise.

Los Rojiblancos certainly won’t see their favourite competition as a consolation prize and showed that at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla capitalised on a poor PSV pass to open the scoring on the stroke of half-time.

Youssef En-Nesyri slotted in a Jesus Navas cross for his ninth goal since impressing with Morocco at the World Cup.

Getting Lucas Ocampos back on loan from Ajax last month was a boost and he struck with a spectacular second soon after the interval.

Ocampos then set up Nemanja Gudelj to rifle home into the top of the net and complete a convincing victory.

Former Chile and Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli has done an excellent job since succeeding Julen Lopetegui after a poor start to the season.

Let’s finish off our PSV vs Sevilla betting tips by taking 9/2 for the scores to be level at half-time and full-time.
