Senegal begin the Africa Cup of Nations as favourites in the outright betting and it would be a big surprise if they have any trouble getting out of Group B.
The Lions of Teranga have never won the tournament but are well fancied for success in Cameroon and can ease their way into the knockout stage.
Their opening opponents look ill-equipped to cause any problems and the favourites to win by more than one goal at 1.88 is our opening Senegal vs Zimbabwe prediction.
Senegal Odds
Senegal have a spine to the team that is as good as many international sides in the world.
Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been in fine form for Chelsea and has Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly in front of him.
PSG’s Idrissa Gueye can dominate the midfield while up front Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has the potential to be one of the stars of the tournament.
Senegal won their World Cup qualifying group, dropping just two points in their six matches, and we expect a confident start from them here.
Mane is the obvious favourite at 4.00 to score first in the Senegal vs Zimbabwe odds after scoring 10 goals in all competitions for the Reds this season but at a slightly bigger price we’ll go for 4.20 for Mane to open the scoring in a Senegal win.
Zimbabwe Odds
Nothing has gone right for Zimbabwe since they booked their place at this tournament by beating Botswana in March.
That remains their most recent win and in 12 matches since they have suffered seven defeats and drawn five, having finished bottom of their World Cup qualifying group with just two points.
It was up front that they struggled the most, scoring just two goals in a group which also contained Ghana, South Africa and Ethiopia.
They look short of the firepower needed to trouble Senegal and have had the threat of a ban hanging over them in the build-up to the tournament.
