Liverpool have looked more like their old selves over the past 10 days and will be eyeing a fourth straight win when visiting Nottingham Forest.
The hosts have tightened up at the back of late but do not seem equipped to match any elite-level Premier League team at this point.
We like 29/10 for an away win by any two-goal margin as our first Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool prediction.
Nottingham Forest Odds
Forest picked up their second draw in three outings via a goalless stalemate at Brighton but the Seagulls really should have secured victory.
They had 70 per cent of the possession and led 19-3 in terms of attempts on goal, with seven on target and none for the Reds.
Steve Cooper insisted: “Everything is a collective effort here. I believe in these players 100 per cent and I am enjoying working with them.
“Although we’ve not been able to get the points, I have seen a group of players that want to be here and are committed every day and are striving to do better.
“I know we want to be more of a threat and we want to create more chances and spend more time on the ball in the opponent’s half, I understand that.
“We’ve had times in games where we have been that but it’s been to the detriment of being too open at the back and we’ve conceded too many goals. We’ve got to get the balance right.”
To be fair to Cooper, he did have to react to last month’s back-to-back 3-2 losses to Bournemouth and Fulham at this venue.
However, they have since scored just once in four outings and have now drawn a blank up front six times this term.
Looking at the Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool odds, there is obvious appeal in Evens for an away win to nil.
Last Forest line-up: Henderson, Cook, Williams, Aurier, McKenna, Mangala, Gibbs-White, Lingard, Yates, Freuler, Johnson.
Forest will be without Harry Toffolo due to a hamstring injury. Lewis O’Brien is still ill, Renan Lodi is battling a sprained ankle, while Moussa Niakhate (hamstring) and Omar Richards (leg) remain out.
Liverpool Odds
Liverpool looked a bit dejected after a 3-2 loss at Arsenal made it three Premier League games without a win but they have responded in fine style.
Thrashing Rangers 7-1 in the Champions League boosted their confidence and that has been backed up by 1-0 victories over Manchester City and West Ham.
Jurgen Klopp’s side did not reach the heights of their win versus City when edging out the Hammers and needed an Alisson penalty save to see it through.
Klopp still gave his players plenty of credit, though, after a 22nd-minute Darwin Nunez header proved decisive.
“It is a very important, tough period for all teams, so you have to grind results out and now in three days’ time the next fight is waiting already,” commented the German boss.
“For sure, not easy tonight, but we played well enough – and in moments, really good. In the end, altogether, well enough to deserve three points.”
At the City Ground, it may take something different to break down a Forest outfit which looks set to drop back and try to soak up pressure.
The hosts may have to concede some free-kicks in dangerous areas, which could bring Trent Alexander-Arnold into play.
The wing-back has scored three times already this term and 18/1 for him to net first here completes our Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool betting tips.
Last Liverpool line-up: Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Henderson, Carvalho, Firmino, Salah, Nunez.
Nunez faces a late fitness test on a hamstring problem. Left-back Andy Robertson looks set to start after being rested against the Hammers. Defender Ibrahima Konate and midfielder Naby Keita return to training on Monday after injuries.
