PSG reject would restart career at Liverpool

Javier Pastore is the latest name to be linked with a summer move to Liverpool in the most recent edition of the rumour mill.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacking-midfielder has fallen out of favour with the Ligue 1 champions and has only made ten league starts this term.

This means the Parisians are unlikely to be too reticent in letting the Argentine playmaker depart, but it also raises concerns as to whether he is worth investing in.

Looking at how he has fared in his few outings for Laurent Blanc’s men, it is clear that the 26-year-old would be a good signing for the Reds.

The former Palermo talisman has contributed five assists in the French top-flight over the course of this campaign, meaning he manages to set someone up in every other match he appears in the first 11.

Of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, only James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana have managed more league assists than Pastore, but have done so with significantly more appearances.

Furthermore, Philippe Coutinho has set up the same number of goals as the man being linked with Liverpool, but has done so after making 22 starts.

It is also worth noting that the reason Pastore has struggled to get playing time with PSG is because he is behind Angel Di Maria in the pecking order.

An indifferent spell at Manchester United aside, the former Real Madrid man has impressed consistently throughout his career and is widely considered to be one of the best players in world football.

Indeed, the 28-year-old was awarded man of the match in the 2013/2014 Champions League final as Real lifted the trophy and was also in the World Cup team of the tournament in the same year.
