Liverpool go into the final round of fixtures knowing victory will assure them of a place in next season’s Champions League and they are expected to take care of Middlesbrough without too much fuss.
It is over 40 years since Boro last prevailed at Anfield and the Reds won 3-0 when these teams met at the Riverside back in mid-December.
We’re happy to take 21/4 for a repeat of that scoreline in our Liverpool vs Middlesbrough betting tips.
A Look At Liverpool’s Betting Odds
Liverpool were under plenty of pressure to perform when travelling to West Ham last weekend and had to endure a few shaky moments early on in that match.
However, Philippe Coutinho eventually inspired them to a convincing 4-0 victory, scoring two goals and setting up another.
“He has moments of magic,” said teammate Divock Origi on the club website. “He helps us a lot, is there in the big moments and is a joy to play with.”
Liverpool have taken just two points from their last three outings at Anfield, losing to Crystal Palace and drawing with Bournemouth and Southampton, but surely they won’t slip up now.
“It will be like a final, so we will give it everything,” added Origi, who is 16/1 to score first in a 3-0 success.
A Look At Middlesbrough’s Betting Odds
Middlesbrough have shown some positive signs at home since Steve Agnew took charge, but they put in a fairly tame effort when beaten 2-1 by Southampton at the Riverside until a bit of a late rally.
Boro have now conceded 30 times since Christmas and that could have been more if Shane Long hadn’t missed a penalty when Saints were 2-0 up.
On the road, the Teessiders have only picked up two points from their last 11 games, with just three goals scored, so Liverpool could hardly have wished for more conducive company.
Looking at the Liverpool vs Middlesbrough odds, a fast start would be ideal for the hosts and they are 11/5 to score in the first 15 minutes.
