What Trueform says for Liverpool vs Fulham
Liverpool have had to endure a frustrating week and we fear Fulham could feel the backlash when they travel to Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds were below par when drawing at Arsenal in the Premier League and when losing at Red Star in Europe, but previously scored eight times in two emphatic home wins.
Jurgen Klopp will urge his team to get back to that form against the Cottagers and 4/5 they romp in by more than two clear goals is our first Liverpool vs Fulham prediction.
A Look At Liverpool’s Betting Odds
Klopp spoke of his side losing their mojo against Red Star in Tuesday’s shock Champions League defeat but stressed he did not view it as a long-term issue.
Midfielder Adam Lallana admits the players have to take responsibility for that Belgrade setback and accepts it is time for them to step up.
“Of course there’ll be a reaction,” he declared. “It’s not the first time we’ve lost games, it’s about how you react and bounce back.
“We had chances but we weren’t ruthless enough, weren’t patient enough. It’s not like us. It’s on us to take responsibility.”
The Reds were also sluggish at times in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal, but this is a golden opportunity to recapture the sparkle of the last two Anfield appearances.
Red Star were thumped 4-0 at this venue and Cardiff crushed 4-1 and the omens are good for a similar outcome this weekend.
Last Liverpool line-up: Alisson, Van Dijk, Robertson, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Milner, Lallana, Mane, Salah, Sturridge.
Captain Jordan Henderson and fellow midfielder Naby Keita are both available following hamstring injuries, while defender Joe Gomez has recovered from an Achilles issue.
Xherdan Shaqiri will also come into contention having been left at home for the Champions League trip to Red Star Belgrade in an attempt to reduce local hostilities.
A Look At Fulham’s Betting Odds
Fulham suffered a fifth straight Premier League defeat when going down 1-0 at Huddersfield on Monday night and dropped to the bottom of the table as a result.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s own-goal gave the Cottagers a mountain to climb and they could not make plenty of second-half possession count.
The visitors’ sole win since gaining promotion via the play-offs came back in August, while they have equalled a top-flight record by conceding 29 goals in their opening 11 matches.
“It’s not a nice situation for us, being bottom of the Premier League is extra pressure for the team, for all of us,” admitted Slavisa Jokanovic.
“We immediately need an important improvement because at the moment we are not competitive enough to give us the option to win the game.”
Fulham do have some talented performers, but Anfield is hardly the easiest place to start turning things around.
Xherdan Shaqiri did not travel to Serbia for political reasons but has been impressing for Liverpool of late and may come back in to freshen things up.
Last Fulham line-up: Rico, Odoi, Le Marchand, Fosu-Mensah, Sessegnon, Cairney, Schurrle, Jean Seri, Zambo, Mitrovic, Vietto.
Fulham are expected to be without Kevin McDonald and Joe Bryan as both are struggling with hamstring injuries.
Red Star 2-0 LIVERPOOL
Huddersfield 1-0 FULHAM
Head-to-head: Fulham 2-3 Liverpool, Liverpool 4-0 Fulham, Fulham 1-3 Liverpool, Liverpool 4-0 Fulham
