Liverpool vs Everton prediction, odds & betting tips

Kick-off: 1230, 21/10/2023

Stadium: Anfield

Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton meet for the 243rd time this weekend as the Premier League returns from the international break.

The Reds have made an impressive start to the season after their summer clear-out, and can certainly consider themselves in the title running, while their city rivals can perhaps finally start looking up after a 3-0 win over Bournemouth last time out.

However, the Toffees have only won one of the last 28 meetings between the sides and we’re tipping Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 29/20 as our opening Liverpool vs Everton prediction.

Rebooted Reds back in the mix?

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool reboot has started this season as well as  – if not better than – expected, barring the controversial defeat at Tottenham.

The new-look Reds have lost just once in eight Premier League games and sit handily in fourth ahead of this clash.

They drew 2-2 at Brighton last time out, with Mo Salah scoring twice for his fifth and sixth goals of the season and we also like a draw at half-time and Liverpool at full-time at 16/5 in the Liverpool vs Everton odds.

“We have four competitions ahead of us and we want to be as successful as possible in all of them,” Liverpool defender Joel Matip said on his club’s official website ahead of the clash.

“We want to go for everything but what it will be at the end, nobody knows. Our focus is just on our next game (Everton) and working hard to do as well as possible in it.

“Points-wise, our start to the season is not too bad but performances-wise, over the 90-plus minutes, we’ve not been completely where we want to be.”

Cherries win a flash in the pan or a sign of things to come for Everton?

A crisis never seems too far away at Everton these days, perhaps understandable after recent near-misses at the foot of the table, and this season looked like it was shaping up to be another struggle.

However, a dominant 3-0 win over Bournemouth last time out – including a stunning Jack Harrison  goal – has at least ensured the international recess has been spent in a more positive mood.

“I’m not saying it was a complete performance but it was a very good one,” manager Sean Dyche said of the Bournemouth win.

His side have had a greater xG than Manchester City so far this season and finally cashed in some of their chances in the win.

“The signs have been there all season. The first game we dominated proceedings, chances and just didn’t win,” he added.

“The xG (at three-plus) is as high as it’s been in the last eight years but you have to capitalise on it.”

With Everton’s threat in front of goal, we expect them to at least find the target at Anfield.

Harrison, who has 39 goal involvements in his 109 Premier League matches, looks handy at 11/2 to score any time in our Liverpool vs Everton betting tips.
