Homes Heroes is back once again with three top tips for Tottenham, Chelsea and Swansea City to secure wins over Reading, QPR and Aston Villa respectively on the first day of 2013.
Last time out, some unexpectedly dodgy defending at Stoke cost me big time, with the Potters cracking under the weight of expectation and only managing a 3-3 draw at Southampton.
Nevertheless, I am more than ready to believe that what sounds like deafening boos is actually punters from across the bwin community cheering “Boo-eresford” in anticipation of a return to winning ways.
And in the intervening days since the Stoke incident, I’ve been busy constructing a bet-winning Premier League formula that is sure to offer steady returns.
That’s why I’ve played it super safe and gone for the trio of Swansea, Tottenham and Chelsea to deliver wins, a treble which offers a return of £50.49 for anyone using bwin’s free £20.
It could be the perfect way to start the year – let’s have a look at why.
Tottenham Hotspur to beat Reading @ 17/50
Spurs have been in fine form of late and head into this encounter having picked up ten points from the previous 12 on offer.
Andre Villas-Boas has certainly got his side ticking over nicely now, with the north Londoners winning seven of their last nine competitive matches and losing just once during that period. They have made a habit of beating the division’s lesser lights too, with wins over relegation-threatened Sunderland and Aston Villa in their last two games.
Much of their success has been built on excellent home form, with five wins and one draw from their last six competitive matches. Reading, meanwhile, may have picked up four points from two home games against Swansea City and West Ham United, but could struggle away from the Madejski.
The Royals have lost five in a row on the road and have taken just one point from the previous 18 on offer away from home. Spurs are also unbeaten in their previous six meetings with Reading, winning five and drawing once, with their last win coming earlier in the season via a 3-1 scoreline.
Swansea City to beat Aston Villa @ 57/100
Swansea City head into this one on the back of a great 2-1 away win over Fulham on Boxing Day which saw the club continue its fine start to the season.
The Swans have been in scintillating form this term and recently enjoyed high profile results against Arsenal and Manchester United, with a win and a draw to their name.
In all, Michael Laudrup’s side have lost just two of their last 13 competitive games and they will fancy that kind of form to continue against a troubled Aston Villa.
The Villans have claimed just five points from their last six away games and are currently on a run of three straight defeats on the road.
Their recent form has been particularly alarming with Paul Lambert’s side conceding an astonishing 15 goals in their last three Premier League matches.
With the last of these heavy defeats coming against lowly Wigan, Swansea will surely add to the Midlanders’ misery at the Liberty Stadium.
Chelsea to beat Queens Park Rangers @ 1/5
Rafa Benitez may not have won the fans round but he has certainly steadied the ship at Chelsea, with the Blues showing their mettle with an impressive 2-1 comeback win over Everton on Sunday.
The result saw the team continue a fine recent run which has seen them score 16 goals in their last four competitive games and more crucially still claim 12 points over the course of their last four league fixtures.
In all, the club have now won seven of their last eight matches, with their solitary defeat coming to Corinthians in the Club World Cup.
But while Chelsea appear to have hit their stride, any momentum gained by the arrival of manager Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers appears to have been lost, with QPR enduring defeat in each of their last three Premier League matches.
Redknapp’s team have still only won once this season and that is unlikely to change against a team that hammered them 6-1 on their last visit to Stamford Bridge.
