Republic of Ireland will have to quickly recover from a disappointing display in Georgia when they go into Tuesday’s World Cup Group D top-of-the-table clash with Serbia.

Martin O’Neill’s side are now two points behind their opponents following a 1-1 draw in Tbilisi while Serbia cruised to a 3-0 triumph over Moldova.

The men in green will take heart from a 2-2 scoreline in Belgrade 12 months ago but we reckon they may have to settle for a draw again here at 2/1 in our Ireland vs Serbia betting predictions.

A Look At Republic of Ireland’s Betting Odds

Republic of Ireland were held to a draw by both Wales and Austria in their last two Dublin qualifiers, having earlier scraped a 1-0 win over Georgia at Aviva Stadium.

Shane Duffy’s fourth-minute strike put them on course to do the double over Georgia but Valeri Kazaishvili’s equaliser 11 minutes before the break was no more than his side deserved.

“We scored early on and then sat back and allowed Georgia to dominate the game,” moaned O’Neill. “When we did get the ball, we gave it away cheaply and certainly the first half was as poor as we have played this campaign.”

Ireland finished with strikers Shane Long, Jonathan Walters and Daryl Murphy on the pitch, plus wingers James McClean and Aiden McGeady, and O’Neill has vowed to be positive in this fixture too.

However, the visitors are a solid outfit and 18/5 for a score draw gets the vote in our Ireland vs Serbia betting tips.

A Look At Serbia’s Betting Odds

Like Ireland, Serbia are unbeaten in seven Group D games and now sit in pole position to automatically progress to Russia 2018 after seeing off Moldova with some slick passing moves in Belgrade.

Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and former Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov hit the target but we were particularly impressed by Mijat Gacinovic.

The 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder opened the scoring and had an assist as his pace troubled Moldova down the right all night.

Having drawn once with Ireland and twice against Wales, this is a team which knows how to do a job, with O’Neill admitting it will take “a phenomenal effort to beat them”.

Looking at the Ireland vs Serbia odds, we’d rather go with a 1-1 draw at 5/1.
