Uruguay versus Colombia is rated the pick of the Copa America quarter-finals and we’re sweet on La Celeste’s chances of success.
After getting off to a sluggish start, Oscar Tabarez’s team look to have hit top form at just the right time to shine in the knockout stages.
Punters can get 27/20 for them to prevail in normal time and that is our first Uruguay vs Colombia prediction.
A Look At Uruguay’s Betting Odds
Uruguay went into the tournament under a bit of a cloud following goalless stalemates with Paraguay and Venezuela in World Cup qualifiers.
A 1-0 loss to Argentina in their opening Group A fixture added to the pressure but Luis Suarez then earned La Celeste a solid 1-1 draw with Chile.
That seemed to give Uruguay a confidence boost and second place in the pool was secured thanks to a 2-0 triumph over Bolivia and a 1-0 win versus Paraguay.
Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani was on target in both of those victories while the latter result gave us a trio of successful selections in our match preview.
It goes without saying that when talismanic forwards Suarez and Cavani are on song, it lifts the whole team.
La Celeste have led at half-time and full-time in their last two games, so a bwin price boost of 13/4 for that to happen again takes the eye from the Uruguay vs Colombia odds.
A Look At Colombia’s Betting Odds
Colombia started brightly enough in Group B by beating Ecuador 1-0 but were then held to a goalless stalemate by basement dwellers Venezuela.
Los Cafeteros finished off with back-to-back 2-1 defeats by Peru and Brazil to end up in third place.
To be fair, they did lead the Selecao for a long time, with Luis Diaz netting after just 10 minutes.
However, Roberto Firmino equalised in the 78th minute and Casemiro headed in a heart-breaking decider deep into stoppage time.
Colombia suffered a double blow before the tournament when star duo James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao were both ruled out.
Atalanta strike pair Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel still represent a strong attacking threat while Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado is always capable of creating chances.
Even Everton defender Yerry Mina will be a danger at set-pieces but we just fear Los Cafeteros lack leadership without Rodriguez and Falcao.
Let’s add 5/1 for La Celeste to prevail and both teams to score to our Uruguay vs Colombia betting tips.
