African Cup of Nations: Tunisia to follow Senegal through

Senegal have safely qualified from Group B thanks to two straight wins but there is still plenty of interest in who will join them in the knockout stages. Here are our tips for Monday’s final round of matches in this pool:

Senegal to draw with Algeria @ 9/4

Senegal will be able to rest some players after guaranteeing top spot in the table with 2-0 defeats of Tunisia and Zimbabwe but whether Algeria can take full advantage is questionable. The Desert Foxes were held to a 2-2 draw by big outsiders Zimbabwe in their opening match and put in a toothless display when beaten by Tunisia.

Under 2.5 goals in Senegal game @ 1/2

Algeria’s two previous matches have produced seven goals but that has largely been down to some sloppy defending in those games and they will meet a more organised set-up when taking on Senegal. The Teranga Lions have yet to concede in this tournament and will be keen to keep up that proud record even if giving some of their squad players a chance here.

Tunisia to beat Zimbabwe to nil @ 13/10

A victory will be enough to see Tunisia through and they are fancied to set about achieving that in workmanlike, rather than spectacular fashion. Zimbabwe had their limitations exposed by Senegal, being restricted to just three shots on target, and it is worth remembering their opponents only conceded three goals in six qualifiers to reach Gabon.

Draw half-time, Tunisia full-time @ 3/1

The Eagles of Carthage have been slow to get going in both of their matches so far, only getting on the scoresheet thanks to a 50th-minute own goal against Algeria and a penalty 16 minutes later. With so much at stake in this final fixture, the chances are they will seek to keep things steady in the first half and then wear down the underdogs.

Tunisia to beat Zimbabwe 1-0 @ 9/2

On paper, Tunisia should be much stronger than Zimbabwe, with plenty of experience at the back and Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri able to help them take control of this game. However, they have been tentative going forward so far and may prefer to try and lock down this match if going ahead.
