Hull vs Sunderland: Black Cats value to salvage some pride

Kick Off: 1500, 06/05/2017

Stadium: KCOM Stadium

Sunderland may already be relegated from the Premier League, but 23/4 is still a big price for them to win at Hull on Saturday, having beaten the Tigers 3-0 at home earlier this term.

Bookmakers clearly believe the Black Cats will be lacking in motivation, but it could also be argued that they can now play with freedom, as the pressure of fighting for survival is off.

It’s a speculative wager, but looking at the Hull vs Sunderland odds, we reckon the visitors are great value.

A Look At Hull City’s Betting Odds

Obviously, it has to be admitted that Hull have been in fine form at home since the arrival of Marco Silva, securing six wins and a draw from their last seven Premier League games at KCOM Stadium.

Eldin Jakupovic’s late penalty save in a goalless draw at Southampton also boosted their survival bid – and confirmed that Sunderland will drop down to the Championship.

“The result gives confidence to us; and again it was fantastic attitude from our players as well,” said Silva. “I want this bravery in our team, but it’s not easy, the position where we are in the table.”

The Tigers have scored at least twice in eight of their last nine home games, so 3/5 for them to achieve that feat again will be popular.

A Look At Sunderland’s Betting Odds

Sunderland have gone 10 games without a win after being edged out late on by Bournemouth last weekend, a result which ended their hopes of extending a 10-year stay in the top flight.

However, captain John O’Shea vowed to battle on for what is left of the season, stating: “We all have to make sure we finish the league strongly and as positively as possible – and we get as many points as we can.

“If we take chances in games, we’ll get the victories. We have to keep that positive attitude as much as we can and give the fans something to cheer about.”

This game and next week’s clash with Swansea give the Black Cats a chance to restore some pride, before daunting away trips to Arsenal and Chelsea.

Odds of 21/2 for the visitors to win and over 2.5 goals in the game are worth including in our Hull vs Sunderland betting tips.
