What Trueform says for Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid
Two of European football’s most successful clubs meet in the Champions League semi-finals when Bayern Munich take on holders Real Madrid.
Real are looking to complete a hat-trick of titles after lifting the trophy in Milan in 2016 and then Cardiff last year, while their 12 European Cup triumphs is five more than the next best in AC Milan.
Bayern have dominated German football in recent times and have appeared in three Champions League finals this decade, winning the competition for the fifth time in 2013.
We think home advantage could prove decisive on this occasion and Evens for FC Hollywood to prevail is the first of our Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid betting predictions.
A Look At Bayern Munich’s Betting Odds
The jury is still out on how good this Bayern team is after a relatively easy passage to the semi-finals.
Besiktas and Sevilla have not been the toughest of opponents in the knockout stage, especially for a Bayern team which only finished runners-up in their group behind Paris Saint-Germain.
A 3-0 defeat in Paris cost them top spot but Bayern have improved greatly since that result led to the departure of Carlo Ancelotti and the appointment of Jupp Heynckes until the end of the season.
A 5-0 thrashing of Besiktas in the round of 16 and a 6-0 Bundesliga rout of Borussia Dortmund highlighted the threat Bayern can pose at the Allianz Arena, and they are appearing in the semi-finals for the seventh time in the last nine years.
Real prevailed 6-3 on aggregate when these teams met in the quarter-finals last season, but it was 3-3 after two full matches, before an extra-time collapse by Bayern.
Robert Lewandowski told FC Bayern TV: “When we take on Real Madrid now, it’ll be completely different from last year. What happened last year isn’t on our minds.
“We know we can make it against Real Madrid too, even if they’re top opponents and it’ll be a tough match.
“I hope it’ll be an interesting match too and that at the end of the day we’ll be happier than them.”
Bayern appear to have no fresh selection concerns for the midweek game as long-term absentees Manuel Neuer, Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman were the only players to miss training on Monday.
A Look At Real Madrid’s Betting Odds
Real suffered a serious scare against Juventus in the quarter-finals. The tie looked over after their 3-0 win in Turin but, incredibly, the Italians battled back at the Bernabeu to draw level on aggregate before Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury-time penalty eventually put the holders through.
Real’s domestic form has been disappointing, featuring surprise defeats at Girona and Espanyol, and they had to settle for runners-up spot in their Champions League group after taking just one point from their two games against Tottenham.
In Ronaldo, they arguably have the player of the tournament once again, but the defence looks vulnerable, so we’re taking 11/5 for a home win and both teams to score to complete our Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid betting tips.
Lewandowski is well aware of the threat posed by the Portugal star, but insists Bayern can match fire with fire.
He added: “We know Ronaldo has already scored quite a few goals against Bayern. I hope he won’t add to it this year.
“We know their other players are really good and able to score too. We have to watch every player.
“But if we stick to our game and live up to our full potential, Real Madrid might have problems too.
“It’s the Champions League, you have to watch every little detail and try to play as best you can.”
