Ahead of the 2022 NFL season, we’re tracking the NFC East odds to see which teams are expected to fare well in this division.
Bwin has a wide range of NFL betting odds on every match and futures markets on everything from the next Super Bowl winner to individual player props.
Here, we’re providing our NFC East predictions and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each team:
1st PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
The jury is still out on Jalen Hurts but general manager Howie Roseman has put everything in place for a successful campaign if the third-season quarterback can come good.
Star wide receiver AJ Brown was acquired in a trade from Tennessee and should help last year’s impressive rookie DeVonta Smith continue to develop.
High-profile free agency recruits James Bradberry, Haason Reddick, Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett and Kyzir White can revamp the defence, along with top draft pick Jordan Davis.
Table toppers in 2017 and 2019, Philadelphia are fancied to improve on last season’s solid 9-8 record following that eye-catching spending spree.
2nd DALLAS COWBOYS
All four teams in this pool finished 2020 with losing records, but the Cowboys caught fire last term and stormed to the head of affairs at 12-5, thanks largely to winning all six division battles.
However, there hasn’t been a back-to-back NFC East champion for almost two decades and Dallas could be the latest franchise to fall victim to that hoodoo after suffering some key departures.
La’el Collins and Connor Williams have been lost from the stellar O-line, while 31-year-old left tackle Tyron Smith is now injury prone, so the pressure will be on some younger guys to step up.
Playmaker Dak Prescott and reliable wide-out CeeDee Lamb can help to keep the Cowboys competitive, but we fear America’s team may have to settle for second best.
3rd WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
Washington have rolled the dice on flashy QB Carson Wentz returning to form after a disappointing one-year stint with Indianapolis.
Wentz will be aided by having exciting WR Terry McLaurin among his potential targets, as well as No 1 draft choice Jahan Dotson, but we’re taking a watching brief on whether some major personnel changes up front on offence work out.
Former defensive rookie of the year Chase Young and Montez Sweat have the talent to wreak havoc in the pass-rush department if they can avoid their 2021 injury problems.
We would have liked to see more reinforcements for the secondary in our NFC East preview, though, as that was a major area of concern last term.
4th NEW YORK GIANTS
The Giants haven’t topped the table since 2011 and won just four games last year, prompting the dismissal of head coach Joe Judge, with former Buffalo offensive coordinator Brian Daboll brought in as his replacement.
Losing Bradberry to the Eagles in free agency was a blow and ex-Pro Bowl tight-end Evan Engram will also be missed, while 2019 first-round pick Daniel Jones is facing a make-or-break season at QB.
Running back Saquon Barkley has struggled to match his early sparkle since suffering a torn ACL in 2020 but would make a huge difference if getting back to his best.
The draft also brought fresh hope of a resurgence for long-suffering Giants fans, with edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and OT Evan Neal taken at No 5 and 7 overall, but this season might be too soon to start reaping the rewards of those picks.
