We’re tracking the Heisman Trophy 2022 winner odds to see which players are fancied to secure college football’s most prestigious individual award.
Quarterbacks tend to dominate the voting, with 18 of the last 22 gongs going to that position, but running backs also fare well and wide receiver DeVonta Smith got the nod in 2020.

CJ STROUD Ohio State QB
The 20-year-old led the Buckeyes to a 10-2 record as a redshirt-freshman and finished fourth in the 2021 Heisman Trophy voting. Stroud threw for 573 yards and six touchdowns as Ohio State came from 14 points down to beat Utah 48-45 in the Rose Bowl. With the Buckeyes 4.5 second favourites for CFP National Championship glory this term, the 6ft 3in playmaker is being widely tipped to make further progress and looks a worthy favourite in the Heisman Trophy 2022 winner odds.
BRYCE YOUNG Alabama QB
Young was the runaway winner of this award last season, polling 684 first-place votes, compared to 78 for runner-up Aidan Hutchinson, who was the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Crimson Tide again head the championship betting at 2.9 and the 20-year-old will be the focal point of Nick Saban’s offence once more. However, only one player has claimed back-to-back Heisman Trophy wins – Ohio RB Archie Griffin in 1974 and 1975.
CALEB WILLIAMS USC QB
After finishing 2021 as back-up to Spencer Rattler at Oklahoma, Williams has transferred to USC, switching from the Sooners to the Trojans along with head coach Lincoln Riley. “I wanted to go somewhere I thought would provide me with the best development both on and off the field,” Williams told ESPN. “I want to get to work right away, earn the trust of my teammates, win championships and help bring USC back to being a top-rated program.” Riley helped to develop recent QB winners Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray while at Oklahoma!
BIJAN ROBINSON Texas RB
Derrick Henry was the last running back to claim this award in 2015, six years after Mark Ingram, so we are due another. Robinson rushed for 703 yards in his first season with the Longhorns and improved the total to 1,127 last term, doubling his touchdown tally to four. The 20-year-old has been compared to former Texas star Ricky Williams, who took home this trophy in 1998, and offers a value alternative to the other Heisman Trophy 2022 candidates.
