Philadelphia Flyers vs Ottawa Senators predictions

Face-off: 1900 ET, 29/04/2022

Arena: Wells Fargo Center

Ottawa were powerless to prevent Florida from clinching the Presidents’ Trophy but are taken to bounce back by prevailing at Philadelphia.

The Senators had previously rattled off four straight wins and should find the Flyers more conducive company, even at Wells Fargo Center.

We’re going with 2.0 for an away win on the money line in our Philadelphia Flyers vs Ottawa Senators predictions.

Philadelphia Flyers Odds

Philadelphia have lost eight of their last 10 matches after going down 4-0 at Winnipeg on Wednesday.

To be fair, the Flyers did have 35 attempts on goal, but couldn’t find a way past Eric Comrie.

Head coach Mike Yeo said: “You could tell we didn’t have all of our jump here tonight, so what you definitely don’t want to be doing is chasing.

“We didn’t seem to have the energy to come back, that’s for sure.”

Philadelphia and Ottawa are tied at 1-1 from past meetings this term but we’re siding with the Senators to shade the series.

Looking at the NHL odds for this contest, 12.5 for a 4-3 away victory catches the eye.

Ottawa Senators Odds

Ottawa only trailed 1-0 against Florida after two periods but conceded three more goals in the final stanza.

“We weren’t very good,” moaned coach DJ Smith. “Tried to score off the rush, turned pucks over, got beat. We just weren’t very good.

“We didn’t play by any of the structure that we play with that’s allowed us a chance to win every night.

“No matter how many guys are out, you play with structure and you stay in it. We had a lot of people on their own page and taking long shifts.

“We’ve played a lot better hockey. Certainly, you want to finish better than that.”

The Panthers rested some key personnel ahead of the playoffs, but those coming in looked hungry to push for playing time in the post-season.

This is a chance for the Senators to get back to the form shown in wins over Vancouver, Columbus, Montreal and New Jersey.

Alex Formenton has enjoyed a breakout season and scored in both previous encounters with Philadelphia this term.

Let’s add 4.0 for him to net at any time to our NHL predictions for this match.
