Venue: FLA Live Arena
Montreal face a daunting task when they travel to play Florida in Sunrise.
The Panthers are one of the strongest teams in the NHL on home ice, having lost just three of their 19 games at FLA Live Arena so far this term, and are coming off a 9-3 win over state rivals Tampa Bay.
Expect Florida’s impressive home form to continue and in the first of our NHL predictions we think 2.15 for the Panthers to prevail by more than 2.5 goals offers value.
Florida Panthers Odds
Florida have been superb on home ice this season and a strong start is likely again here, with the Panthers fancied to score the first goal of the first period at 1.67.
Only the Vegas Golden Knights have scored more than Florida’s 117 goals, so a home win with over 6.5 at 2.35 is another fancy in our Florida Panthers vs Montreal Canadiens predictions.
For as good as their offence has been, the Panthers have struggled a bit defensively and have conceded goals in each period in their last four home matches.
Examining the 2.40 is a good bet.
Sergei Bobrovsky will most likely get the start for the Panthers after Spencer Knight oversaw the win over the Lightning and he has been solid to help them be so formidable at home.
Montreal Canadiens Odds
This has largely been a forgettable season for the Habs, who have won just once in their last 10 outings.
The Canadiens have conceded in the third period in each of their last nine away games and the 3.2 for the Panthers to outscore the visitors by more than 1.5 goals in the closing stanza is tempting.
Montreal are one of the worst hit teams in the league by Covid and that will leave them shorthanded in Sunrise.
With those absentees in mind, Florida to be the first team to score three goals at 1.40 will attract some big hitters.
FLORIDA 9-3 Tampa Bay
Carolina 4-0 MONTREAL
Head-to-head: Florida 4-1 Montreal, Montreal 4-0 Florida, Florida 6-4 Montreal, Montreal 6-1 Florida
