Leeds vs Liverpool: Reds can return to winning ways

Kick-off: 2000, 17/04/2023

Stadium: Elland Road

TV: Sky Sports

Liverpool are fancied to pile more pressure on relegation-threatened Leeds when they visit Elland Road on Monday night.

The Reds have gone five games without a win but should be buoyed by their second-half performance in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out.

We like Evens for an away win and over 1.5 goals in the game as our first Leeds vs Liverpool prediction.

Whites rocked by Palace blitz

Leeds boosted their survival hopes with three wins from six Premier League outings under Javi Gracia but were brought back down to earth with a bump by Crystal Palace.

Patrick Bamford put United in front at this venue and they led until Marc Guehi’s leveller on the stroke of half-time.

However, the Whites suffered an alarming collapse after the interval and were eventually on the wrong end of a 5-1 thrashing.

“The first half we were really good, probably should’ve been a few goals ahead,” Bamford told LUTV.

“Then, the second half we kind of fell apart and it was a freak result but it’s one that we’ll move on from.

“I said before the game that one game doesn’t decide it. It wasn’t the be all and end all and we move on.”

This may not be a good time to be taking on a Liverpool side desperate for points to get back into Europe next season, though.

Looking at the Leeds vs Liverpool odds, we feel 21/10 for the visitors to prevail and both teams to score is another good option.

Last Leeds line-up: Meslier, Ayling, Firpo, Koch, Struijk, Aaronson, Roca, Harrison, Sinisterra, McKennie, Bamford.

Reds must build on Arsenal display

Liverpool’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League again look slim but a place in the Europa League is still up for grabs.

After enjoying an incredible 7-0 romp against Manchester United at Anfield, the Reds received a reality check by losing to Bournemouth, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were then fortunate to draw 0-0 at Chelsea and were outplayed by Arsenal early on in front of their own fans.

However, Mohamed Salah made it 2-1 just before the break and Liverpool put in a sterling second-half performance against the Gunners.

Salah missed a penalty before Roberto Firmino equalised in the 87th minute and only two superb saves from Aaron Ramsdale denied the Reds a decider.

Trent Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports: “Every game, we want to go and get three points.

“Disappointed somewhat to not get it but there were lessons in there that we can play and have belief to play against a quality side like Arsenal.

“We’ve shown on numerous occasions we can go toe-to-toe with the best in the league.

“Going two behind at home is never good but we showed character, got into the game, obviously got the late equaliser and a huge chance at the end to go and win it.”

Klopp expressed his delight at having a full week to prepare for this contest, especially with Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz coming back from injury lay-offs.

Salah has netted seven times in four starts against the Whites and 6/1 for him to score two or more goals here is added to our Leeds vs Liverpool betting tips.

Last Liverpool line-up: Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Henderson, Jones, Salah, Gakpo, Jota.
