Liverpool face increasingly stiff competition to sign Borussia Monchengladbach schemer Mahmoud Dahoud, with Juventus reportedly ready to jump the queue for his services with a January bid.
The Serie A champions will bid £13.5m to sign the 20-year-old in the winter window, while Manchester City are also alleged to be interested.
Dahoud was thought to be one of Jurgen Klopp’s top targets in the summer, though a deal to sign Georginio Wijnaldum beefed up a midfield already thickened by Marko Grujic’s return from a six-month loan to Red Star Belgrade.
The congestion in the Reds’ midfield ranks was perhaps the motivation behind Dahoud’s decision to remain in Germany, though with an £8.5m release clause in his contract set to become active next summer, it’s difficult to see such a coveted player at Monchengladbach beyond this season.

Considering Man City recently paid £37m to sign another Bundesliga prodigy in Leroy Sane, who had made a solitary substitute appearance in Europe’s elite competition at the time, £13.5m for Dahoud in January, or £5m less next summer has to be considered a great investment.
Even if luring him to Anfield meant shipping out another midfielder to make room, Liverpool would be daft not to do what was necessary to sign the youngster, as talent of this magnitude is rarely available so cheap.
