Sky Sports hosts the Premier League’s top game of the weekend early doors when Tottenham take on Liverpool at 12.30 on Saturday, and we’ve had a hard stare at the stats to try and come up with a correct-score wager worth being on.

Here’s what we found.

Spurs have failed to score in six of Liverpool’s past 11 top-flight visits to White Hart Lane

This has not been a particularly fun assignment for the north Londoners of late, with what turned out to be a Gareth Bale winner back in November 2012 the last time Spurs managed to breach the Reds’ backline at headquarters.

A run of five wins on the spin when hosting Liverpool between 2008 and 2012 has turned into one point from the past nine available, and the Lilywhites have only bagged 12 times in this home fixture since August 2004.

Liverpool have bagged 18 goals in their past seven Premier League away fixtures

The Reds drew a blank despite firing off 13 shots in their 2-0 loss at Burnley last time out in the division, having put four past Arsenal when visiting Spurs’ area of the capital the week before.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went some way to rectifying their poor Turf Moor result with a 5-0 EFL Cup thumping of Championship Burton in midweek, and the last time they failed to fire on the road in the top flight was at Leicester in early February.

However…

Liverpool have only won four of eight Premier League away matches since going down 2-0 at the King Power Stadium

And one of those was a 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, who were plummeting towards the Championship at breakneck speed at the time, while Klopp and co were fortunate enough to visit a Crystal Palace on a four-match losing run at home.

Furthermore, Tottenham have bagged at a rate of almost two strikes per match over their last seven in the Premier League at headquarters

Mauricio Pochettino’s men may not have managed more than one over 90 minutes at White Hart Lane since mid-April, but that was after consecutive 3-0 home wins against Manchester United and Bournemouth, following a 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

They’ve only lost one of their past nine top-flight fixtures at HQ, winning six times and drawing twice during that run.

Verdict

Tottenham v Liverpool correct score – 1-2 @ 9/1
