There is a bumper MMA card at the Honda Center in California on Saturday night and we’ve picked out our UFC 214 predictions, including the headline rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.
Those old rivals will battle it out for supremacy in the light-heavyweight division but there is also scheduled to be a stellar supporting cast in action in Anaheim.

Jon Jones to beat Daniel Cormier @ 17/50
Jones was the defending light-heavyweight champion when securing an emphatic points victory over Cormier back in January 2015. They were due to meet again at UFC 200 until Jones failed a drugs test. Cormier has cleaned up during his rival’s one-year suspension but Jones is now back to claim his rightful place on the throne. The latter’s lack of activity will put some off, but he was so convincing in their first clash that we can’t see past a repeat result.
Tyron Woodley to beat Demian Maia @ 9/20
Woodley goes into the third defence of his welterweight title with a big chip on his shoulder, fuelled by the feeling that he has not been given the recognition he deserves from those within the sport. That spells trouble for 39-year-old Maia, who has the wrestling skills to be competitive if getting up close but may struggle to cope with the champion’s power punching.
Robbie Lawler to beat Donald Cerrone @ 57/100
Former welterweight title holder Lawler is on the comeback trail and fancied to take out fellow big-hitter Cerrone. Our selection hasn’t fought since being bounced out inside a round by Woodley a year ago but had previously impressed in a series of exciting encounters, including a Fight of the Year win over Rory MacDonald. Cerrone is game but may be outgunned by his larger opponent.
