It often feels like the golf season never ends, but the PGA Tour officially signs off for the year with this week’s RSM Classic at Sea Island in Georgia, Phil Casey writes.

Tiger Woods returns to action in his own event next week and the QBE Shootout – a two-man team event – follows, but after Sunday the next time players will compete in an official tournament will be the first week in January.

With that in mind it can be tough to assess the contenders at Sea Island, with some no doubt winding down for the season and others still keen to register a big performance.

The first of our RSM Classic betting predictions comes from the latter category, with Ollie Schniederjans 28/1 to claim his first PGA Tour title after enjoying a stellar amateur career.

Schniederjans was a three-time NCAA All-American at Georgia Tech who was ranked the top amateur in the world before turning professional after a tie for 12th in the 2015 Open at St Andrews.

The 24-year-old was sixth in this event 12 months ago and narrowly beaten by Henrik Stenson in the Wyndham Championship earlier this year, while his recent form includes three top-25 finishes.

Also in good form is Korea’s Si Woo Kim, whose third place in the OHL Classic was his best result since winning the Players Championship in May.

Kim has been hampered by a back injury for most of the season but if his performance in Mexico is anything to go by, odds of 40/1 in the RSM Classic betting look too good to resist.

Our final selection is more of a gamble, especially after withdrawing last week in Mexico, but David Lingmerth could reward a small bet at 100/1.

Lingmerth is a streaky player who beat Justin Rose in a play-off to win the Memorial Tournament in 2015 and has not tasted victory since, although he was fourth in the British Masters at the end of September.

A third round of 62 vaulted the Swede into contention and he closed with a 66, while his withdrawal last week during a weather-hit event came when he looked set to miss the cut.
