Challenge Cup predictions: Side with Rhinos and Red Devils

This weekend’s Challenge Cup semi-finals feature all-Yorkshire and all-Lancashire ties and two fierce battles are expected with a trip to Wembley at stake.

Holders Hull take on Leeds at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, while 20-time winners Wigan face Salford at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington the following day.

We’ve taken a look at the betting odds for each game and punters will land a 3/1 double if both of our Challenge Cup predictions are correct.

Leeds to beat Hull @ 11/10

The Rhinos can be forgiven for last week’s 34-0 thrashing at Wigan, when putting out a young side in order to keep some of their bigger names fresh for this game.

Leeds had previously secured second spot in the regular season Super League table by grinding out a 10-7 win over Hull at Headingley, capping off a fine run of six wins in seven games.

Brian McDermott’s side also hammered cup holders Hull 52-24 away earlier this year and have not lost to Saturday’s opponents since September 2014.

Salford +8 against Wigan @ 91/100

The Red Devils overcame a major psychological hoodoo when winning at Wigan for the first time in 20 years back in May, leading 16-0 at half-time before prevailing 31-16.

The Warriors have got a few key players back from injury since then, but still look a fair way below the standard of previous seasons.

Salford’s Super League form has tailed off recently but they were clinical when crushing Wakefield 30-6 in the last round of this competition and could have been saving something for Sunday’s trip to Warrington.
