Derek Chisora has been granted another crack at WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury but we can’t see this being a case of third time lucky for the challenger.
Fury prevailed on points when they initially met in 2011 and Chisora was retired by his corner at the end of the 10th round three years later.
We’re backing the Gypsy King to win in rounds 7-12 here at 2/1 for the first of our Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora 3 predictions.
Tyson Fury Odds
Fury used his fast hands and solid jab to outbox Chisora in both previous contests but the signs are that his punches have become more hurtful over time.
In his last three fights, the Gypsy King has stopped Deontay Wilder twice (in rounds seven and 11) and finished off Dillian Whyte before halfway.
The champion had hoped to tempt Anthony Joshua into taking him on, but now it seems the plan is to use Chisora to tune up for a proposed unification fight with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk next year.
However, 34-year-old Fury has ruled out any chance of complacency setting in and insisted he will not be taking this bout lightly.
“I have offered the big guys the fights and they don’t want the smoke,” declared Fury. “We tried to fight Joshua and Usyk and they didn’t want it.
“Chisora took it because he has balls. I rate him as highly as I do Uysk, so I will train like he is the hardest fight in the world.
“His style has changed but so has mine. I used to jib and jab and now I am a destroyer. So someone is getting knocked out.
“If he lands a big swing on me, I am getting knocked out and vice versa, so the fans are in for a treat.”
The Gypsy King usually keeps things tight early on before then opening up, so 10/3 he gets the job done in rounds 7-9 is another option from the Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora 3 odds.
Dereck Chisora Odds
Chisora was the man defending titles in the past, losing his British and Commonwealth belts in fight one and the European crown in the rematch.
Del Boy may benefit from taking on the role of hunter and can be backed at 16/1 to win inside the distance.
He said: “Tyson has always said there would be a third fight and here it is, I am excited and thank Tyson for the opportunity to fight him.
“There’s no bad blood – but I want to take what is his and make it mine.”
Chisora’s last outing was a split-decision victory against Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev in June, the 33rd win of his admirable career.
However, he has also suffered 12 losses, including three straight prior to that triumph.
After going down on points to Usyk in October 2020, Chisora was on the wrong end of two decisions against Joseph Parker last year.
He has been stopped by two other fighters, in the fifth round by David Haye in 2012 and the 11th by Whyte four years ago.
The 38-year-old is always ready to rumble, though, and had his moments in both bouts.
That could tempt some to put 8/1 for the champion to be knocked down before claiming victory in their Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora 3 betting tips.
