Face-off: 2200 ET, 18/12/2021
Venue: Climate Pledge Arena
Seattle and Edmonton have shared the spoils in two previous meetings this season but we’re backing the Oilers to shade the series decider.
Dave Tippett’s side returned to form with a cracking triumph over Columbus on Thursday and have shown before this term how they tend to feed off success, repeatedly claiming wins in bunches.
We’re snapping up 2.25 for an away victory in regular time in our Seattle Kraken vs Edmonton Oilers predictions.
Seattle Kraken Odds
Expansion side Seattle won’t be too disheartened by a 10-16-3 record in their inaugural campaign, even if they are bottom of the Pacific Division.
The Kraken are currently finding life tough, though, winning just once in five outings after going down 4-1 at Anaheim on Wednesday.
Head coach Dave Hakstol has urged his side to be braver in front of goal as they bid to turn things around.
He commented: “We’re still turning down too many shots entering the offensive zone, in my opinion.
“We’re good when we are a shoot-first mentality team. It gives us a chance to retrieve those pucks and get a little motion going.”
Mason Appleton has had a stop-start season but was prominent in Seattle’s 4-3 win over Edmonton here earlier this month and in Tuesday’s 3-1 triumph at San Jose.
Both matches between these sides have been open, with Edmonton prevailing 5-2 in Canada at the start of the month.
Another entertaining encounter is on the cards, so 3.7 for the Oilers to win and both teams to score at least twice takes the eye from the NHL odds.
Edmonton Oilers Odds
Edmonton did us a favour when ending a six-game skid by beating Columbus 5-2, as we tipped them to oblige by three goals in our match preview.
Rookie goalie Stuart Skinner made some superb stops that night, as the Oilers improved to 17-11-0 and moved 11 points ahead of Seattle in fourth.
Jesse Puljujarvi had two goals and an assist, while star duo Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid each had an assist.
Derek Ryan ended a two-game scoring drought and said: “It is a huge confidence builder.
“Even though we haven’t gotten wins in the previous games, I felt like we’ve started to come across some confidence.”
Assist king Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has since joined Devin Shore, Ryan McLeod and coach Tippett in being sidelined by Covid protocols.
However, we’re confident that the Oilers have enough strength in depth to cope and like 7.75 for them to win by two goals.
