Winnipeg have shown they can turn on the style and grind it out in back-to-back victories and look worth following against the Islanders.

Their hosts are coming off a big win over Columbus at UBS Arena, so it won’t be easy, but the Jets just get the nod to complete the hat-trick.

New York Islanders Odds

The Islanders are a healthy 5-4-2 from their last 11 fixtures after battering the Blue Jackets 6-0 at this venue last night.

Anders Lee scored his first NHL treble, while Ryan Pulock and Anthony Beauvillier both had three assists.

Ilya Sorokin made 25 saves for his sixth shutout of the season, one of which came in a 2-0 triumph at Winnipeg back in early November.

“I think everyone showed up,” said centre Jean-Gabriel Pageau. “Special teams were amazing and Sorokin in net was great.”

Lee added: “Great looks from some of the guys and just an overall really good team effort and a good way to start the weekend.”

Barry Trotz will be happy with the work-rate and consistency of his team, but we just feel they have only been beating out-of-sorts opponents, as a rule.

Winnipeg do not fall into that category and we still prefer NHL odds.

Winnipeg Jets Odds

Winnipeg are 4-1-1 from their last six outings after following up Tuesday’s 7-4 defeat of Tampa Bay with last night’s 2-1 success in New Jersey.

Eric Comrie made 33 saves for the Jets to improve his record this season to 7-2-1 and Kyle Connor netted for the 35th time with the deciding strike.

“I really felt Comrie kept the game calm; he slowed it down a bit for us,” said coach Dave Lowry.

“He allowed us to get through the second period, but credit to our guys, they came out in the third period and got our game back.”

Defenseman Josh Morrissey epitomised Winnipeg’s battling qualities and was involved in the action all over the ice.

The visitors remain in the hunt for a wild card spot in the west and 11.5 for them to prevail 3-2 completes our Islanders vs Jets predictions.
