Face-off: 2100 ET, 29/11/2021
Venue: Scotiabank Saddledome
Pittsburgh and Calgary both saw winning runs come to an end over the weekend but the Flames look better equipped to get back on track.
Darryl Sutter’s side crushed the Penguins 4-0 on the road in front of 17,743 fans last month when coming on strong in the closing period.
They are taken to confirm that superiority on home ice and 2.05 for a win in regular time opens our Calgary Flames vs Pittsburgh Penguins predictions.
Calgary Flames Odds
Calgary slipped to second place in the Western Pacific division at 12-4-5 when going down 4-2 to Winnipeg at Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Flames had looked on course for a fifth straight win when taking a 2-0 lead through Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm while Johnny Gaudreau picked up a pair of assists.
Even after the Jets had pulled level, Calgary appeared most likely to grab the victory, with Connor Hellebuyck forced to make 16 saves for Winnipeg in the second period.
It was a similar story in the third until Kyle Connor put the Jets ahead against the run of play at 15:09 and the visitors added an empty-net goal late on.
“The effort was there but there’s some mistakes we’ve got to clean up,” commented left winger Andrew Mangiapane.
With a 23-13 advantage in scoring chances, Calgary should really have won that game and we’re sticking with them for now.
Let’s go with the Flames to win by two goals at 7.0 from the NHL odds on this match-up.
Pittsburgh Penguins Odds
Pittsburgh are fifth in the Eastern Metropolitan at 10-7-4 after a five-match hot streak ended with a 6-3 home loss to Montreal.
The Penguins also created plenty of chances but came up against an inspired Jake Allen, who made an NHL career-high 47 saves.
Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists for Mike Sullivan’s side but they missed in-form goalie Tristan Jarry, who was rested in favour of Casey DeSmith.
“We had our opportunities,” said Crosby. “It was just hard for us to get a lead and gain momentum.
“I think we did some good things but we still weren’t probably as sharp as we could’ve been.”
Evan Rodrigues had the third-highest number of shots in a game in Penguins history, so he is someone to watch out for in the player props.
However, we’re finishing off our NHL predictions for this game by taking 4.0 for the Flames to win and both teams to score at least two goals.
