Toronto have put together a solid run of results on the road and should now enjoy a successful return to home ice when hosting Anaheim.
The Ducks will travel to Scotiabank Arena in good heart following a couple of convincing victories but the Maple Leafs are just a level above in our book.
We like 2.2 for the hosts to prevail and over 5.5 total goals in the game to kick off our Toronto Maple Leafs vs Anaheim Ducks predictions.
Toronto Maple Leafs Odds
Toronto climbed back into the top 10 of the overall NHL standings thanks to Saturday’s 3-1 win at the New York Islanders, which gave us three successful selections in our match preview.
Morgan Rielly had a goal and an assist to make it 33 points for the season, putting him fourth on the team’s scoring chart.
Forward Mitchell Marner, who netted for a third straight game, was full of praise for Rielly.
“If you look at his stats and what he brings to our team, to not be at least a one-time All-Star, it’s insanity, to be fairly honest,” said Marner.
“We’re very fortunate to have him and he knows how much we love him in that locker room and on the ice.
“He does a lot of great things for us and hopefully he gets what he deserves here soon within the coming years.”
Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe has been urging his side to control proceedings more once in front, as they had been allowing opponents to get back into contention.
That was more like it and a 14-4-1 home record makes Toronto worth sticking with, so 6.25 they win by two again here takes the eye from the NHL odds.
Anaheim Ducks Odds
Admittedly, Anaheim will not lack confidence either after following up a 5-1 home win over Tampa Bay with a 5-3 triumph at Boston.
Ryan Getzlaf claimed a goal and an assist versus the Bruins, Hampus Lindholm provided three assists and John Gibson made 23 saves to earn his 162nd career win.
That put the All-Star netminder joint-third with Jonas Hiller in the list of victories for the Ducks.
Assistant coach Geoff Ward, standing in for Covid-hit Dallas Eakins, declared: “I thought all of our guys were prepared to play. I thought it showed in the emotion that we had.
“Now we’ve got to take what we need to from this game and springboard it into the next one in Toronto.
“Because the games at this time of year just keep getting bigger and they just keep getting more difficult.”
Anaheim do appear to be going in the right direction but it is still hard to forget their 5-1 drubbing by Toronto on home ice towards the end of November.
This should be closer but 2.95 for the Maple Leafs to oblige and both teams to score at least twice is added to our NHL predictions.
