We’re posting our World Cup 2022 groups predictions ahead of this winter’s Qatar spectacular and will land a 26/1-plus acca if they all come good.
Punters can also check out our infographic guide to each pool, which examines how teams qualified, their recent records against the other finalists and likely routes through the tournament.
However, here’s our quick tips on eight nations fancied to top their respective tables:
GROUP A: Netherlands @ 1/2
The Dutch have enjoyed a resurgence under Louis van Gaal and appear determined to make amends for missing out last time. The three-time runners-up impressed in this year’s Nations League, beating Belgium twice, and are backed to see off Senegal, Ecuador and hosts Qatar.
GROUP B: England @ 3/10
Gareth Southgate’s side are hard to oppose after reaching the semi-finals four years ago and finishing as runners-up at Euro 2020. The Three Lions were unbeaten in qualifying and, despite a blip in the Nations League, they simply look a class apart from the USA, Wales and Iran on all known form.
GROUP C: Argentina @ 2/5
Last year’s Copa America champions will be all the rage in World Cup 2022 groups predictions, with Lionel Messi chasing the one major trophy he has yet to lift. Mexico and Poland are solid opponents but may be left fighting it out for second ahead of Saudi Arabia, as La Albiceleste look to extend a long unbeaten run.
GROUP D: France @ 38/100
Les Bleus will be happy with the draw as they seek to become the first back-to-back World Cup winners since Brazil in 1962, with Ballon d’Or hero Karim Benzema added to the squad which shone so brightly in Russia. Denmark should follow them through ahead of Australia and Tunisia.
GROUP E: Germany @ 11/10
Die Mannschaft and Spain are expected to dominate this section and Hansi Flick’s side may just have the edge in terms of scoring potential if it comes down to goal difference, with La Roja often failing to take full advantage of having tons of possession. It will be a major surprise if Japan or Costa Rica can trouble the big two.
GROUP F: Belgium @ 4/7
This could be the last chance for the Red Devils’ golden generation to pick up some major silverware after finishing third four years ago. Russia 2018 runners-up Croatia are also relying on valiant veterans, so energetic duo Morocco and Canada are far from lost causes, but Kevin De Bruyne can pull the strings in this pool.
GROUP G: Brazil @ 3/10
The Selecao powered through the South American qualifying section as comfortable table toppers ahead of Argentina and begin their bid for a sixth World Cup success as hot favourites to win their section. Switzerland and Serbia are solid, but not spectacular, while Cameroon face a tough task.
GROUP H: Portugal @ 7/10
The 2016 European champions have put together a superb supporting cast around Cristiano Ronaldo and will be keen to improve on a moderate World Cup record. Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva are just two of their key figures. Uruguay are rated the biggest threat, with Ghana and South Korea probably up against it at this level.
