Tanzania vs Algeria: Desert Foxes look a major force

Kick-off: 2000, 01/07/2019

Stadium: Al Salam Stadium

TV: Eurosport

Algeria will be keen to maintain their strong early momentum at the Africa Cup of Nations when taking on Group C basement dwellers Tanzania in Cairo.

The Desert Foxes are sitting pretty at the top of the table following wins over Kenya and Senegal and can now make a statement of intent against the Taifa Stars.

We’re snapping up 11/10 for the Foxes to prevail by more than one clear goal for our initial Tanzania vs Algeria prediction.

A Look At Tanzania’s Betting Odds

Tanzania are a lowly-ranked 131 in the FIFA ratings and have predictably struggled to make an impact at this tournament.

After a pretty tepid 2-0 loss to Senegal, they did lead twice versus Kenya, thanks to goals from Morocco-based Simon Msuva and Genk striker Mbwana Samatta.

However, a moderate defence let them down and Emmanuel Amunike’s men slipped to a 3-2 defeat.

Samatta is reportedly a target for several Premier League clubs after winning the Golden Boot in Belgium’s top flight last term, but we can’t see him getting many chances to shine here.

Looking at the Tanzania vs Algeria odds, we like 17/4 for the Desert Foxes to secure a smooth 2-0 success.

A Look At Algeria’s Betting Odds

Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez was on target when Algeria opened with a 2-0 triumph over Kenya and they followed that up by edging out Senegal 1-0.

The north African side threatened to score twice in the first half, with Edouard Mendy saving from Youcef Belaili and Baghdad Bounedjah.

Belaili made the breakthrough shortly after the break when finishing off a fine counter-attack and Algeria survived some late pressure in a fiercely-fought contest.

Having missed out on the knockout stages in 2017, the Desert Foxes seem determined to show their true worth at this tournament.

Head coach Djamel Belmadi, who spent time with Southampton in his playing days, has a good blend of youth and experience, while even if making a few changes, the strength in depth is there to cope.

They were 2-0 up at the break versus Kenya, before easing off, and 11/2 for the same first-half scoreline here is added to our Tanzania vs Algeria betting tips.
