France have produced one of the best performances of the Women’s Euro 2022 so far and are firm favourites to follow it up with victory over Belgium.
Les Bleues cruised to a 5-1 victory over Italy in their Group D opener against Italy while Belgium had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Iceland, giving us a correct score payout at 6.5 in our match preview!

Grace Geyoro netted a first-half hat-trick to help France put on a five-star show in their opening game.
The demolition job started early when Geyoro grabbed her first goal inside the opening 10 minutes and Marie-Antoinette Katoto made it two just three minutes later.
Nearly all of the first-half running – barring a couple of tame Italian attacks – came from France and they ended the half with three goals in eight minutes, including two more from Geyoro for the first hat-trick at the tournament.
Italy dug in after the break while France could not keep up the brilliance which was on show in the first half and Martina Piemonte’s second-half consolation gave the Italian fans something to cheer.
France coach Corinne Diacre is not getting carried away, though, and warned: “It’s only the first game. This is only the first of six steps that we set out, so we will rest up and go again.
“We are staying focused, we have our heads down and it’s only the first game, we have five others. We want to be vigilant.
“We wanted to show what we were made of from the first game and hats off to my players, they were performing strongly from the off.”
France have won the last six meetings with their next opponents, scoring 23 goals in the process, so will fancy their chances of plenty of goals again.

Belgium have their first point on the board but will need to improve if they are to have any chance against France.
They enjoyed a let-off when Iceland missed a first-half penalty but fell behind early in the second half before Justine Vanhaevermaet sent goalkeeper Sandra Sigurdardottir the wrong way from the spot to share the spoils.
Vanhaevermaet said: “It’s a double-edged feeling to end up with a draw, but I think the game could have gone both ways.
“We had a really good game plan, but our passing wasn’t as solid as it might have been.”
The Red Flames have only scored one goal in their last eight meetings with France so could be in for a long evening here, especially given that France did not concede a goal in qualifying.
