It must be admitted that Shrewsbury were the better team in the first meeting, with Joe Hart having to get down low to make two fine first-half saves and Jon Nolan fluffing a great chance late on.
After that 0-0 draw, Town manager Paul Hurst stated: “The players are a little bit deflated almost. They did extremely well, but if we’d had just that little bit of quality, we may have got through.”
Nolan did score from the penalty spot at Blackburn on Saturday, but that was in a 3-1 loss to their fellow League One promotion hopefuls.
