Brighton vs Liverpool prediction, odds & betting tips

Kick-off: 1330, 29/01/2023

Stadium: Amex Stadium

Liverpool should travel to Brighton for Sunday’s televised FA Cup fourth-round tie fully fired up on two fronts.

The Reds are determined to retain the trophy they won last term and will also be eyeing revenge for a recent 3-0 Premier League drubbing at this venue.

We’re backing Jurgen Klopp’s side to show their true worth this time and 31/20 for an away win is our first Brighton vs Liverpool prediction.

Brighton Odds

Brighton played Liverpool off the park in that encounter earlier this month and are two points better off in the table, so that was no flash in the pan.

Albion began the season by beating Manchester United away and have thumped Chelsea 4-1 at this venue during a cracking campaign.

However, the Seagulls are still prone to off days as well, including home losses to Tottenham, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

Even more of a concern was their penalty shoot-out defeat at League One Charlton in the EFL Cup.

Saturday’s league clash at Leicester again highlighted how Brighton are far from the finished article.

Albion enjoyed 63 per cent of the possession and created more clear-cut chances, but needed a late Evan Ferguson header to draw 2-2.

“We deserved to win,” said boss Roberto De Zerbi. “Football is like this and we almost lost the game, but we played well and I saw the stats, they are incredible for us.”

One other big question mark hanging over the Seagulls is their strength in depth if De Zerbi opts to freshen things up.

Looking at the Brighton vs Liverpool odds, we favour 31/10 for an away victory and both teams to score.

Liverpool Odds

Liverpool also lost 3-1 at Brentford earlier this month and Klopp appeared to be visibly shaken by that performance and the one at this ground 12 days later.

The Reds responded well by winning their FA Cup replay at Wolves 1-0, though, and Saturday’s goalless stalemate with Chelsea was another solid effort.

Midfielder Thiago Alcantara believes coming so close to an unprecedented quadruple last season has had an undue effect on the squad.

As well as landing a League/FA Cup double, they were 12 minutes away from a second Premier League title in three years and only lost 1-0 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Thiago admits starting again after such a draining 63-match campaign has provided problems, but he insists the hunger for more silverware remains strong.

“It is a challenge and I think we have great quality and great guys to sort it out and I am sure we will do that,” said the 31-year-old.

“I think in the bad moments we have to be together as a team. Our aim is the next game. Not to be in the top four or the Europa League, just the next game.

“We are looking forward to the next game against Brighton and that’s all.”

Darwin Nunez was missing when Liverpool visited Amex Stadium two weeks ago but returned from a minor hamstring injury as a substitute versus Chelsea.

His pace could trouble Albion and 4/1 for the Uruguay ace to break the deadlock is added to our Brighton vs Liverpool betting tips.
