Apollon vs Aberdeen: Dons can advance with Cyprus draw

Kick Off: 1800, 03/08/2017

Stadium: AEK Arena

Aberdeen face a tough test when travelling to Cyprus to face Apollon but we fancy the Scots to hold firm for a draw that would send them through in this Europa League qualifier.

The Dons only just shaded the first leg 2-1 at Pittodrie but have proven in the past that they can cope with difficult road trips in this competition.

Looking at the Apollon vs Aberdeen odds, we reckon 11/5 for a stalemate on Thursday night is a tempting price.

A Look At Apollon Limassol’s Betting Odds

Apollon had to survive an early onslaught in the first encounter but there was plenty to admire about the way they then got back into the game.

Cypriot sides do have a reputation for being fragile in the temperament department, though, and poor discipline cost them on that occasion.

Coach Safronis Avgousti was sent to the stands and Argentine midfielder Esteban Sachetti saw red for a second bookable offence not long before Graeme Shinnie’s 25-yard strike put Aberdeen back in front.

Avgousti and Sachetti are suspended for this game and we’re on the Dons to secure a score draw at 4/1 in our Apollon vs Aberdeen betting tips.

A Look At Aberdeen’s Betting Odds

Apollon are unbeaten in five European home games, winning three, but Aberdeen will take heart from this match being switched from their usual stadium in Limassol to Larnaca.

Manager Derek McInnes also noted a 2-0 success at Siroki Brijeg in the last round while the Dons prevailed at Ventspils and Rijeka in previous European campaigns.

He said: “We go over to Cyprus confident of getting the job done. We were disappointed to lose the away goal but we thoroughly deserved to win the game.

“We have had a couple of big wins when we have played against good teams like Rijeka and Siroki Brijeg in hot temperatures, so we can do that again.”

Another away victory may be asking too much but 11/2 for a 1-1 draw will suffice on this occasion and completes our Apollon vs Aberdeen betting predictions.
